Hey CGN, looking for some advice on my Steyr M40 trigger. I bought it used and fired maybe 300 rounds until this weekend when the trigger wouldn't reset. I sent the previous owner if he experienced this, he said he hasn't. I did google and read that this can be common with the M series. I tried to google some Steyr forums and read that some have experienced it but couldn't really find any solutions or reason why. I really like this pistol and obviously being in Canada it isn't as much a concern for self defense reliability. It is my back up for IDPA so would like to remedy this issue, does anyone have any experience with Steyr's that could offer some help? I am not by any means an armourer or a Smith to diagnose myself, so if anyone has info in general as to why a trigger wouldn't reset would be appreciated. If all else fails I do have a Smith I can bring it to. Thanks in advance.

Have you gotten a fix for this? Do you know who is Steyr distributor in Canada?
Seems all us m40 kids got the ugly 2nd gen as opposed to the 3rd gen 9mms that are in town.
The 3rd gen cleared up all of these problems.

I missed this thread the first time around. I had an L9A1 a few years ago that had a similar problem—the previous owner had replaced the striker spring with a lighter weight one. Reinstalling the factory spring fixed the issue.
