steyr M9-A1 underated???

Timmy, if you are serious shooter, the attitude you display on this boards would qualify you for assessment by the PAL police to see if you indeed are stable enought to maintian one, never mind teach the course. You are the exact type of guy that gives decent gun owners a bad name. Loose the attitude and come back when you can offer constructive criticism of the steyr m9. You truly are not a serious professional member of the gun society, evidenced by the immature posts you make.

I'm not mature enough for an internet forum. Haha. I've written enough on this forum about the M9A1 if you checked. None of which included a comment about being able to close my eyes and get a good grouping (it's not that I don't believe it, I just never tried it! Hahahaha)

In all seriousness, I won't post what I think of your response or address any of your comments because there is nothing constructive to come of it but for the record; I contribute an extraordinary amount to the firearms community and the fact that I made a comment to tease you on an internet forum doesn't negate that. I don't even know why you're such an M9A1 martyr.

If you truly want to discuss the reality behind police-related shootings I supervised a thesis on the subject so message me sometime, I love to talk about my area of study (Hon. BA Criminology, MA MSW) and work but only privately.

Tim.

Timmy, exactly what I thought an academic. Big difference between teaching and doing. NBA'ers can make shot's with their eyes closed, if you studied the subject and human anatomy you would know why, a blind man can play the piano why? its called repeatability, something you have failed to study and understand. Once you have a grasp on the human anatomy, maybe it won't be so hard to understand how one could group well with the right gun and their eyes closed. I didn't say hit the center of target or mass i said goup well which speaks to consistency, for an academic you sure missed the point. that's the danger in trying to point out your expertise, furthermore I highly recommend you talk professionally rather than like a 17 year old crackhead from hastings, might build your credibility on this anonomous forum.

Qualified folks rarely need to show their letters to anyone, they simply demonstrate their knowledge by sharing in a constructive way.

Oh my, you're such a doucher it's incredible. 'Credibility' on an internet forum and human anatomy. Lol. I have lots of experience in doing. In fact, more practical experience than academic but.. you already have me all figured don't you?

Kiss my ass, and all the asses of my 17 year old crackhead friends,
Tim.

Timmy, really mature dude. you've been more than helpful in helping others evaluate the platform, nice to see you share your academic wisdom, insight and 'real life' experience. thanks for all your insight and good bye

OK... perhaps we can get back on topic.

I have not fired the Steyr M9, but have held it at the local shop, and "dizzy" is correct. FOR ME it points very naturally, FOR ME it has a nice heft to it (with a full clip it should be about perfect), FOR ME the fit and finish look first rate and seems to be quality made. This is all without firing. I will be trying one at an american range on my holidays and will be more than happy to add my 2 cents again after I have done so...

I picked up an M40 last week. Pointability and feel are great, sights are different. I've put about 150 rounds through it. Went bang every time, even with reloads. Accuracy was good. I shoot my Sig and CBOB better (put alot more rounds through them), but not enough that it would matter in a combat situation. Bottom line is that I like it. BTW Epps carries them.

It seems after talking to several other Steyr owners the general feeling is unanimous. one of the most naturally pointing pistols on earth. None are die hard Steyr fans as it does have its pros and cons but when it comes to flat out pointability nothing comes close, again reiterating the importance of this feature if the piece ever needed to be used in a high stress situation. highly underrated pistol in my opinion, highly overlooked, it should be one pistol every diehard pistol guy owns.

As for availability in Canada I think any dealer can order them as they all come from one supplier all dealers have access to. Price for 9mm should be between 7-800 and 40 cal around 900.

broncoo, thanks for the heads up on the mags. you won't be kicking yourself for buying one. I passed on a sig p220 in order to get a M-a1 in 40 cal. swap the barrel and you can shoot the 357 sig through it also. Great little guns for sure. Absolute sure. finally read a review that basically reiterated what I have been saying here on the boards regarding point ability. it really is a stunner. The reason this is not overtaking the glock is price, failure to market it and late to the game. In time it will be recognized as a MUCH superior platform.

Part of the reason is the Steyr in the State don't really know how the market work, at the very beginning, anything happened to the pistol, you will have to send the gun back to the office in the State and won't sell you parts, this policy won't work in North America, they also patterned all the parts and therefore no other company making parts for the Steyr firearm, not even a spring. I've been eye on those pistol but the parts supply indeed cause trouble, they are some of the best plastic gun out there. I was thinking selling some toys to fund a M-A1 in 9mm as well.

Trigun

Trigun,

the first ones out did have some issues which I understand were resolved. They did have good support but not as widely accessable as others. They discontinued sales in the U.S. as they couldn't compete against Glock on price due to higher manufacturing costs than Glock, which tells me its better made, indeed it is.

Fortunately they are still coming into Canada and should be for who knows how long so think the support here should be fine. After all its only a $700 gun and if after 10,000 rounds it breaks throw it out and get another. Mind you it should last significantly longer than that.

broncoo, did a little search on the BHP mags and with a little filing they work great! Don't have any around but if they are significantly cheaper than steyr mags would be good to get a few.
