Steyr M9-A1??

Well if Steyr brought this pistol out in 1970 it would be fantasic "but its 2012"

Steyr lacks the following

-Ambi mag release
-ajustable back straps
-A good textured grip
-a good trigger

As for glock costing more then some polymers, well look what a HK will cost you ;) the XD is cheaper but made in Croatia so the labour is less then a well paid austrian lol

Dude, are you planing to shoot or just look for addons? Many times, ppl put those ambi things or something else, keep returning back to stock. So far only thing I did to Steyr is to put NS sights, rest is just fine.
A good textured grip? well, on IPSC matches I see a lot of guys using CZ and what they do is putting skating paper.
Think what are you planing to use gun for? competition or personal use("combat").

yeah honestly im not looking to be a competition shooter or anything like that, i just want to have a pistol i can take to the range on the weekends and have some fun with.

so why are you buying it "because it looks cool ;)"

I was just trying to say, its like Steyr does not see the need to challenge other handgun companys. It is still a good gun, but there are better polymer options out there IMO

-Texted grip is important when you are shooting with sweaty or wet hands

-Backstraps are important because not everyone has baby hands

-Trigger feel is important, for ease of shooting

-ambi is important for leftys

P.S. why are you selling yours :D lol

honestly not having ambi mag release and adjustable back straps doesn't really matter to me.

im not sure if this guy has one of the "new" ones but he seems to be pretty stoked on his.

No, that is an old one... and regrettably the guy has very little idea what he is talking about.

1999-2003 - Steyr M and S pistols (bluish looking, with proprietary "box" rail system)
2004-2008 - Steyr MA1 and SA1 pistols (greyish looking, marked as "A1", some with loaded chamber indicator, some without - without is better in my view)
2010-present - Steyr MA1, SA1 and CA1 pistols with redesigned trigger and extractor. Easily recongiable by the left-to-right roll pin just below the rear sight, and the middle letter in the 3-letter date code will be "W" instead of "O"

In these photos of a CA1 I found, you can see the roll pin just under the rear sight. All the M, S and C pistols built since 2010 have this. No roll pin = older trigger design.

Now, keep in mind... I personally don't know if the new trigger is any good. I just know that the trigger on the 2004-2008 guns I have tried is substandard in comparison to its competitors. It will send bullets down range, sure, but don't confuse yourself into thinking it is a "good" trigger. An HK P9S has a "good" trigger. Most good quality 1911s have a "good" trigger. GLOCKs have a consistent predicable trigger, with a relatively short take-up, and a good "springy" re-set that also travels a relatively short distance. Steyr... has had a great deal of difficulty breaking into the police and military market since the M's came out in 1999, has struggled to establish a following (beyond a SteyrClub.com cult following) among civi shooters, actually left the U.S. market for a time, and they have just recently redesigned the trigger of their pistol. Judge for yourself.

Keep in mind as well, I LOVE Steyr. I have three Steyr rifles and I am planning to get a fourth this year. I WILL support their pistol too, if they can get it right and get rid of some of the failed design aspects.

If you really have a major hard-on for a Steyr pistol, then I guess you will have to get one and decide for yourself. If you want one right now you will have to get a 2004-2008 one, as I have yet to become aware of a single redesigned Steyr pistol in Canada. The distributor and the retailers are still trying to clear out the old stock. If you have money to buy lots of pistols, then... what difference does it make? Buy one, then buy something else later, or sell it or whatever you want.

Fair enough.

The other pistol I am seriously considering is the M&P. How would you say the M&P trigger compares to the Steyr? I have good and bad things about the M&P trigger, thats what i ask.

Glocks are just slightly out of my price range, and I don't like the blocky feel of them, thats why I am not really considering buying one.

I am selling one, due to I have 2. I do not see where I said that I buy guns because those look cool. Ppl used to and still do shoot stock guns. So, maybe you should look at Desert eagle if you have sweaty and not baby hands

Just bought my first pistol, M9A1. Wanstalls in Maple Ridge has it for $649. They carry extra mags in stock too. It comes with 2 mags, and a case.

I really like it. Had a few FTEs but it's just breaking in I figure. I dont care for the trap sights, but they are cool nonetheless.

There know for FTE's because of the extractor ... to fix ask for the updated parts free or use a 1911 plunger spring along with your extractor spring.

I love mine, best gun in hand feel ever and since adding the 1911 spring to my extractor ive had 0 problems. Magazines can be found floating around. You can contact north sylva to find mags and for the extractor parts, although they didnt help me, My free parts were sent from Steyr in Austria.

Get a Hogue handall for the grip if you dont like it.
