Hi everyone,

I have two M95 ta wont drop the clip when empty, i have to press the clip release and then it drop on the ground. Checked with my 3rd M95 that drop his clip fine and it look like on the 2 faulty rifle the clip holder stick out for +/- 1mm and on the 3rd one it sits flush with the magwell. Did it ever happen to anyone?Any idea what could make the release stick out too mutch?

I dont really want to go and remove material on the release if i just failed to put it back together right and or something

Thanks
Ced

Why do they have a release if they are meant to fall free? The release certainly will not allow a enbloc clip with ammo drop through..

The release is to eject the enbloc clip full of ammo trought the top of the receivers, empty clip should fall on the ground but like i said mine get caught by the mag release that stick out

My one carbine has a slight dent on the side of the mag well which causes the clips to sometimes not let go but usually a little bump on the side works or just shove in the next clip. Is there a chance there is a small dent or ding on the side that’s holding them in?

It could be your clips are slightly on the large side. I have two different manufacturer's clips. One set is sticky and requires a little push to drop out. As mentioned, if the another clip is being fed on top, they drop out easily.

I actually like the fact that they don't fall out on their own and use those clips because of it. Don't lose them that way.

Will it drop out if you put in a fresh clip? Is the release actually holding it or is there just a little friction that causes it to bind?

When i look in the magwell with the open bolt it is stuck on the mag release, and when i press it it drop. It not jam hard just a little push and it drop on the ground.

BOHROK: no dent or anything. It can clearly be seen when i open the bolt that the mag release hold the clip in place

Bearhunter: i actually saw that on other forum that some clip are little bit larger (looking at yoi, nazi one) but i got 3 austrian clip and they do the samething . I dont think this is my issue.

Tyler: follower was off to the left a first but i fixed that at first clip would hit the follower and stay there but now when i press the release they drop free without the follower touching

Issue looks mostly because the mag release sticks out a little bit enough to prevent empty clip from falling. As my other the release is flush with the magwell, on this one the clip drop free without issue

Its not 100% of the time drop free. They can fall free (especially when given a bit of recoil from the rifle firing the last round), or be pushed free (when a new clip is inserted). I recommend a good cleaning if your particularly concerned with it. If it isn't binding or causing a issue (i.e. cannot insert new clip because it has been actually jammed in the rifle and it is a constant problem) your trying to fix a problem which doesn't exist.

So far I have worked on and repaired 3 M95 magazines which had legitimate issues (broken springs, missing springs, dented in/shot magazine couldn't actually fix this one, not working clip retaining catch). From what you describe I don't think you actually have a issue.

I do think this issue come from a probably mismatched magazine since the rifle look like a bulgarian refurb. My 2 other original Steyr one allmatching never FTR and another all mismatched drop the clip every single time without any issue.

And I have original rifles that have never been FTR which don't drop the clip 100% of the time. Again your looking at a problem which doesn't exist. As long as the clip isn't bound to the action preventing a new one from being inserted your rifle is fine. There is a lot of differences in manufacturing tolerances from traditional machining methods and modern standards. If the rifle works without issue there is no concern. Another thing to consider is your using clips made in the 1940s or earlier designed to be used for a single usage than discarded. They are not all 100% precise just as the magazines aren't. As long as they were within tolerances and functioned that was all that was cared about.

Rifle came packed in cosmo. Already took time to clean every part. Checked the mag twice to be sure i didnt miss anything causing this

Guess ill just roll with it then

Have you tried removing the trigger guard assy and letting it soak for a week or 2 in a solvent?

I mean how would that help? Dont think the metal will shrink by sitting in solvent lol

Boiled it and took an hour to clean it twice. Its cosmo free id bet my life on it.

I broke a part in 1 of mine, got a spare trigger guard housing and got it up and running again. The cosmolene was hard as a rock
