Steyr-Mannlicher M95/34 8x56R

Well didnt notice Trade Ex was closed for a bit looks like I'll have to wait for the rifle. Either way I've got a few milsurps I have yet to shoot in the safe so I'll focus on shooting those for the time being.

Does anyone have any good pet hand loads for these carbines, full power loads not cast, id like to use it as a bush gun for coyotes, bear, beaver, etc, when im riding in the side by side. Too bad ammo isnt more widely available for these mine shoots great for the 60 rounds of PRVI i been able to acquire, but dont know where to get soft points.

Comments not my own.

8x56Rmm Austrian/Hungarian Mannlicher / 8mm Hungarian M31 Reloading Data Printable Version
Warning! Notes: General Comments - This cartridge is often confused with the 8x56mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer, which is a rimless sporting cartridge, whereas the Hungarian military round is rimmed. The two are not interchangeable, as there is considerable difference in case dimensions as well as bullet diameter. Rifles in this chambering are common on the American market and ammunition is also readily available. The 0.329-inch diameter bullet makes handloading a problem because bullets of this size are not normally available. It is possible to use 0.323-inch bullets, but accuracy is poor. Military rifles in this chambering should be considered primarily collector's items because of the ammunition supply problem. In power, the 8x56Rmm Hungarian and the 8x50Rmm Austrian cartridge are in the 30-40 Krag class. (Cartridges of the World 11th Edition)

You guys really have to try to find at least ONE package of Milsurp ammo.
Not only will that give you a couple of clips, it'll let you see/feel what those poor soldiers had to put up with.
Two or three clips is about max for me if I'm not wearing a shoulder pad.

(Looking at some of the data a couple of posts back and it occurred to me that IMR 3031, while maybe not the optimum powder in many cases, can be used to fuel anything from .223 up to .45-70 handy stuff.)

I got clips for a very nice gentleman on the EE here, but theyre available on Ebay as well. Id love to shoot some surplus stuff, the PRVI stuff i had didnt punch me that hard. Thanks for the loading info, ill print if off and save it for when i get out of camp, might try and get some dies and make me up a few rounds.
