Thinking of selling my Steyr to gather funds for another gun…:(

I haven’t seen any Steyrs for sale in the EE forum. (Yes I did a search!) so not quite sure how much would a (slightly) used one go for (esp with all the extras I got).. New once are $795-895+tax.

Don’t want to be asking too much or too little, and to be honest I might just keep it since I like this gun… esp. if I’ll be taking too much of a loss.

Here’s what I got;

9mm Steyr M-A1 in VG-EX condition (w/ manual, hard case, pad locks)
6 magazines > 4 are brand new (never been loaded!) --they go for $50-60/+(tax) each
Leather Holster (black) Quick Draw style --Also new!
Spare extractor & ejector assembly
Shoulder stock (home made)

what do you guys think?

$800 OBO...
You realize of course, that as soon as you sell it, you're going to kick your ass.
I had one...really liked it...ended up not shooting it very much...sold it when the 'need' for another 'gotta have it!' came along.
I have been pondering the purchase of another one...but I'm 'awash' in a bevy of 9MM units at the present..
You might want to reconsider!;)

thanks... but $800? if thats all I can get I'll keep it for sure...btw this gun was still in Austria year ago;)

New Steyr goes for as much as a Glock and I've seen used Glocks go for $700 for just the gun. Magazines alone are over $200 worth...hmmm

Steyr aren't as 'mainstream' as Glock, M&P, XD, etc...= smaller market.
As well, a little birdie told me that Steyr was 'getting out' of handguns......
My advise...if you like it...keep it...find the funds from elsewhere.

Does yours have the trapazoid sites or did you get it changed to the rectangular 3-dot? I know you've mentioned this issue before, but I'm not sure if you actually went through with sending the slide in or not. It took me about 4 months of taking it to the range every weekend to feel 100% comfortable with the trapazoids. Now I am inclined to leave it alone, as it is pretty unique and works quite well for me.

I have the same gun, as you know. I paid $850 I believe. I know they gave me $50 off because I was buying alot of stuff at the time. I can't remember if it was $899 down to $849, or $849 down to $799. With used guns, I always think that you have to go under the original purchase price for the gun and two mags, no matter what you have in extras. Otherwise, interest will be very minimal. People would rather just buy a new one and get the extras later if they need them. I'd say, to move it, you'll have to go $700-750 for everything. I'm interested in buying the 4 extra mags if you are considering selling them seperate. That might be the better way to go. Sell the gun and 2 mags for $700. Sell the extras to another Steyr owner. I might be interested in the other extras as well. I haven't had any problem with the extractor or ejector, but it might not be a bad thing to have.

I'm looking for one of the previous generation of M or S pistols, the the dark gray ones with the funky "box holes" on the front for adding accessories. I see one at the range once and awhile. I'm thinking I can eventaully find one for about $500. I'd also love to find a Steyr GB one day. They seem to be very rare though.

Oh not quite! Steyr was recently bought by a guy who brought Starbucks to Austria. I really doubt they’ll stop making handguns. (he's is a gun guy) if anything I wound’s be surprised to see Steyr going ‘mainstream’

I guess I might sell the extras separately as long as it would get more money that way…btw the extractor is the new improved design (I saw a new M40-A1 recently in a gun store and it still had the ‘old’ extractor)

Will probably try asking people at my club first before making an appearance on EE forum ;)

I have 3 Steyr GB's, one with the factory experimental compensator and one is NIB. The other one I shoot the snot out of. Like the Energizer bunny it just keeps going and going and going. Took 7 years of looking to locate the 3... They are out there but tough to find for a good price. Last GB I saw with 2 mags the guy wanted 1200+ shipping...:runaway: A GB with only one mag sold on the gunscanada auction site for 450 last year. Spare mags in the US go for 275+ USD in the rare case that someone sells them. Whenever I feel I need more mags I just buy another pistol  Great pistols, I love em!

Sorry to hijack this thread for a moment...

Yah, this is the gun. If someone has one to sell, PM me and let me know. It has a 136mm barrel (5.35 inch), so it's a big boy (a 1911 Government is 127mm, just over 5 inch). Must be one hell of an accurate gun, if my 106mm M9-A1 is anything to go by:

This is the one I see around at the range once in awhile. I'd like to pick on up, but I wouldn't really pay more than about $500-550. They seem to be reasonably common, although they are no longer made:

This is my M9-A1. I believe it is exactly the same as IM Lugger's:

This is the little boy. Probably very few of these in Canada. There is also an "A1" version, although I have never even seen pictures of the little "A1"'s anywhere other than on the Steyr Club website. I'm not a 12(6) so they would only be available to me as a "Glock 26/Bar-Sto"-type situation:

Yep, that’s what I have, oh btw that LOH on the slide is date of manufacture /proof and it means Feb. 06. Mine has the same initials :)

And yes I still have the trap sights, it's one of the reasons I got the gun…

Are you sure of that? My M40A-1 is also marked LOH. Three guns made the same day seems like a mighty big coincidence, especially in two different calibres.

I actually called Wolverine today and was quoted $775 for a new one with hard case and extra mag, plus taxes. She said $30 to ship anywhere in Canada... if that helps you out at all...
