Saw this model when I was trawling through the local distributors website.
Has anyone handled or shot a Prohunter in 450 Marlin?
In a Marlin Guide Gun they have to keep 450 Marlin loads sub-40,000psi but in a Prohunter the sky's the limit.
I reckon this could be a real stealth bomber.
Mild loads for normal work and then wind it up for buffalo busting.
Plus Steyrs are damn good rifles.
Any help?

Hey, I already own a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in 9.3x62 - 6.5lbs wringing wet!!
Besides I can load it down, Trapdoor style for normal stuff and, as I said before, wind it up when I want.

Already looking for a first rifle for Alexander Henry***, Andy? He's a big boy- he'll be able to handle it! :p

Thanks, lads.
Yep, Stuart, I am looking for a rifle, although it's using the baby bonus the Aussie federal govt gives us.
Rang my fave store in Sydney and got a quote on the Steyrs

243/270/308/30-06 = AUD$1710 :)

450 Marlin = AUD$2550!!! :onCrack:

I'm guessing the difference in cost between making the 450 and the other cals is a big fat zero.
So it's back to the old decision.....

Y'know, I should stop looking on gunbroker.
It just makes me cry.
I looked at the Buy It Now price of a Steyr 450 there and it was only $100 more than the 270s and 308s here.
Wish we could ship stuff easily like we used to.
Thank you 911.

At .9336 Cdn. for the Australian dollar that is simply beyond belief. The importer must be giving them their own seat on the plane! Cabela's Canada lists the 450 at $819.00.
Can you find a link for that on their site or scan a pic of a magazine or catalog ad confirming that.
I couldn't find it on Cabelas' Canadian or US websites.

Ahhhh, but that's the LEVER gun.
I want the Steyr bolt gun.

Oops... sorry, Andy. I was still in shock at the AUS price of the Marlin and thought you were referring to that. Plus it's the wee hours here, when the brain isn't quite as functional as it ought to be. Gotta get back to bed.

:) Stuart
