I bought a Steyr Mannlicher a while back (great little sporter rifle).
It's an SBS pro hunter with 23.6" stainless barrel. in 6.5x55 swede:D

I was hoping someone else has a similar rifle. I am curious as to what you think of them and if they are worth what they sell for? http://www.steyrarms.com/index.php?id=9 (scroll to the bottom).

So far I have been pleased with the rifle I have only tested a few loads in it. I am working on some 140gr Nosler Custom Comps. It has a super long throat. the Noslers are seated about an 1/8" in the casing and just touching the lands. I guess they are probably designed to shoot the heavier, longer bullets. I like the look and feel of the stock but don't like how easily it bends at the forearm. i can move it 1/2" from the barrel with some thumb and finger pressure.this makes shooting off a bipod useless.

I have some great news about replacement stocks for the older model. you know I guess steyr arms was pretty embarassed with the stock and are doing a free(as far as I can gather) replacement.:dancingbanana: it takes 6-8 weeks to order in from Austria so get on it;) here's a contact email dan@northsylva.ca

The only Steyr I have is a fullstock "mannlicher" and it's my go to rifle for deer. I was thinking about selling off my Sako 75 and replacing it with an SBS in 300 Win Mag or bigger, but that's like trading in the car cuz the ashtray was full...

Just an update. I have been told the stock is identical in appearance but is fiberglass reinforced and super ridged. I hope this info helps more than just me. But I am still interested to hear from you other steyr owners.
