Cool video, thanks for posting. For those who, like me, found themselves a little bit embarrassed for the shooter by his goofy antics in the first few minutes of the video...skip ahead a wee bit if you must, but the video is well worth a watch. The guy is a shooter, and has spent enough time with the rifle he's reviewing to make his comments worth listening to.
I like his explanation of the evolution of the scout concept; i.e. it started out as Cooper's vision of a rifle largely designed for a military scout, but in the world of today it's become an almost-nostalgic hearkening-back to Cooper's time. I'm not military, and my use of this rifle...or any rifle...is entirely recreational. As a working, functional rifle, it is every bit as good today as it was in Cooper's day; as a military weapon, it's been left behind by newer designs and techniques and optics...but I don't care about that stuff.
It's nice to see a younger newer-generation shooter playing with and enjoying a gun older than he is.
I'm currently inside taking a break from a relaxed all-day shooting session; the wife's gone shopping in town so it's just me and the dog. It's been nothing but .22's all morning, but there are two rifles leaning by the door ready to be used after lunch. One's nothing special, just a .223 coyote rig that just got a new scope that needs sighting-in...and the other is my .308 Steyr Scout.
