I've been looking at a couple of these rifles. Very little information on the web. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Steyr hunting rifles (not tacticle) Any info is much appreciated. PM me if you could. Thanks

There are three Steyr hunting-style rifles that I know of in my gun club - in .222Remington, .243 Win and .308Win. All are slaveringly beautiful to look at with that gorgeous candy-twist barrel and dark dense wood, and all shoot like a house a'fire. Not one of them is less than twenty-five years old, either.

I shot an SSG69 from May 1980 to August 2000. I collected it, and nineteen others, from the Steyr factory, where the test card showed it putting five shots of 180gr S&B FMJ in just under 3/4", using its x6 ZF42 scope - the standard fit. On 27 August 2000, I fired it for the last time, and duplicated that test target.

The gun log showed that it had fired almost 15,000 rounds.

What more do you want to know?

I have many Steyr rifles as i think they are one of the best rifle on the planet... JP.
2 Steyr Scout 308
1 Steyr SBS 450 Marlin Big Bore
1 Steyr Luxus 300 mag
1 Steyr Luxus 375 H&H ( modular barrel bolt and mag )
1 Steyr SBS 308

SBS bolt disassembles without tools. Barrels are extremely high quality. Excellent triggers. Very happy with mine. Just one piece of advice, if you're buying an SBS it may be worth shelling out extra for the factory glass reinforced stock vs the regular polymer. The stock is very slender at the neck and can be a weak point. Just my 2 cents.

If I am a good boy can you buy me one? :)

I have a Steyr .308 ,mannlicher full wood stock, double set triggers, twist barrel, butter knife bolt, detach. rotary mags, with a ziess 3x9.its easily my favorite hunting rifle.Shoulders so quick and easy for a quick shot or set the triggers for uncanny accuracy. 4x4in steel plate is boring @ 300 meters.Old world quality, when firearms were made by craftsmen.

I am also curious who sell the Steyr Scout? I'm looking for a light weight bolt action rifle but I cannot locate any.
Frontier have one at sub 2200.00 all in a Scout Steyr 308, this is quite a deal, i almost bought it but got back to my senses with 2 all ready, would have been a little bit crazy to get a third one.. JP.
