I have three questions:

1. Where in Canada can I get BM38?
2. How much?
3. When can I get it?:

From what I've filtered:
1) Marstar
2) a lot - more than 1000, less than 6000, $4000?
3) I'd like to know too, this year will be pretty long if it's supposed to be released for christmas.

Cheers

I called Marstar about them today and was told they have been approved, are of very high quality and should be available towards the end of March. As to a price, they wouldn't ballpark it yet but said they will be "expensive".

They probably sell it by the caseload at walmart right? . Its nice to be historically relevant..but isnt 7.92/short basically a dead calibre? I thought there was only a very limited amount of Czech ammo left or something like that..

IMHO that was a very poor marketing choice. The 7.62x39 is similar enough to make history buffs happy, and its readily available.

I know this thread is a trial balloon so I will say it...

Give me "Marstar prices" on these German items. If the pricing cries Wolverine! forget it. I don't need it. Plain and simple.

and to make that round fit would require a bunch of design changes, then you've got a VZ58.
Well, yes and no... the 7.62 x 39mm is close enough to the kurtz that it wouldn't require to much, I'd think... but hey, I do get proved wrong on a daily basis, so feel free to correct me :p

to go 7.62x39 would require a complete retooling and stamping the cartrideg is bigger

as for 8mm kutrz there is TONS to be had BUT the powers that be WONT test it so john sends it all to the U.S

I do think therre is some runs of commerical every year but not tons

bottom line it will be an expensive rifle that shoots hard to find and expensive ammo

Reloading is cheaper and better, why put old corrosive WW2 German ammo down a new rifle?

I'm glad it's not 7.62X39, just wouldn't be right if it wasn't 8mm Kurz, especially in that rifle.

Save the commie ammo for the SKS Crowd.

Wow

Lots of drama about the cartridge being "rare" or "expensive", considering that the rifle will probably be on the north side of $3000.

I'm thinking if you can afford the rifle, you can probably afford the ammo.

I'm also thinking if you're complaining about the ammo you are probably trying to transfer your regret that the price if the rifle is out of reach.

I don't think I can afford one myself.

Actually the business logic is sound. This one, small shop that practically hand builds these guns, probably does not have the resources to redesign them, but its easy to copy something that is already designed. The photos on their website of the real MP44, FG42, and MP38 are the actual guns that they based their copy from. If they had to redesign and test based on Canada's ammo availablity, they would probably just skip it and do another model for which there is lots of available ammo. Also you are thinking of this from a narrow Canadian perspective, we have a lousy market for ammo and firearms.

anyway...

BD 44 is available in 8mm kurz, and a 22 LR version is in the works
BD 38 and BD 3008 are in 9mm luger
and FG 42 (BD 42) is in 8mm mauser.

Only one of five models is in a hard to find caliber.

For those that missed the couple of times it has been mentioned.

Prvi Partizan loads ammo

I know they should have made it in 6.8 SPC then it would have been all delta navy seal tacticool and they would have sold millions. :onCrack:
