STI dealers in southern ab?

There was an STI Trojan on consignment at TSE if you happen to be in the city. The guy wants too much for it but if you're in Calgary, it's worth a visit to just handle it.

I was looking at one listed on the Armco website but wanted to handle one before buying one. I was very impressed with the weight and the quality of the one at TSE.

There's a big gunshow in Calgary during the Easter long weekend. I'm going to wait until then and see if any are at the show before making my decision.

I'd be interested if you find any dealers in S. AB. Please post if you find any.

In the summer there are weekly IPSC nights held in Brooks, Calgary, Taber (I think) and Lethbridge. You could ask to see one of theirs but it is winter as STI is very common pistol in standard and open divisions.

Check out www.ipscalberta.com and sign up on the forum. Maybe someone will meet you at a practice around where you are.

I have had the Trojan and now have the Ranger II in 9mm.I prefer the shorter look and feel of the Ranger. There is a Ranger II in 9mm in the EE forum right now.

For the most part with regard to size and grip, a 1911 is a 1911. If you only want to hold one to see if you're comfortable with the fit, find any 1911. There are few models to compare to if you're interested in the double stack versions.

If you like the 1911 style, you will love the STI. The fit, finish and smoothness of operation is second to none. These fine details are the differences you will notice with the STI. Of course, along with that you'll notice the price tag but rest assured they are worth the extra price. The entry level Spartans are a steal for $700 and I can't figure why anyone would buy anything else just to save $50-200.

If you really want to see why an STI is a fantastic pistol, find someone who will let you shoot their's. Just don't start with the Trubor GrandMaster or be prepared to eat KD for a while.
