STI discontinuing all 1911 models ?

F****ing idiots, so much for buying a quality 1911 at a cheap price... guess the days of buying 15-1700$ STI 1911s are no more.

Yes. Some dealers have placed final orders for some of STI's last 1911s - as did we, but after they're gone - it will all be 2011s and the DVC Classics.

In order to help you clear inventory of these undesirable discontinued products, I'll buy a sentinel from you for $1000.

The single-stack 1911 market is flooded. Everybody makes them.

Meanwhile; There's very few double-stack 2011 guns on the market.

I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing the new Remington 2011 line-up that's coming soon.

It’s going to make the whole Classic Division “major vs. minor” discussion a lot more interesting... Apart from Sig, I’m not sure who else makes a 1911 in .40 S&W that’s decent quality and reasonably priced.

This 1911 will not be even close in quality to STI......I handled one and was not impressed. .....

And, BTW: the pictured Rem is actually a double stack model, thus not a 1911... ;)

No kidding. That's why I called it a 2011.
I'm looking forward to seeing them in Canada.

Apparently; Remington now owns all of the double-stack designs from Para.

Nothing against STI. But it would be nice to have some other options.

This will hurt the division, not everyone has the $$$$ for a DVC classic or an SV infinity.
Unless another maker steps up his game, i dislike other 1911 makes compared to STI. I just like how they undercut the trigger at the grip, how the beavertail radius is cut deeper etc...
Owned a springfield RO and went back STI quick enough because of it.

Springfield armory are also 40SW

Personally, i would be interested in a DVC classic but... Parts replenishing seem to be unsure.
That 5.4 gun must have a longer guide rod, what about the trimmed rear Dawson DVC magell/MSH, barrel supplies, etc...

The Remington Double Stack is in no-way a 2011 - the 2011 design encompasses a separate grip and frame module.
STI, SVI, Phoenix Trininty, STS and one other manufacturer I can't remember use the 2011 design.
The Frame part is CNC machined from bar stock. A Para frame is cast.
2011s are all hand-fitted guns too. Not assembly line "any slide will fit any frame..." guns.

Remingtons are Para Ordanances. Remington inherited the design when the Freedom Group bought Remington and what was left of Para a few years ago.
The final years of Para were very, very bad years. Hopefully Remington has back-tracked and not just restarted the assembly line.

Marty, our current IPSC National Classic Champion didn't see a need to change parts on his DVC Classic...neither have I ;)

It's not if it uses up, but when,
I understand STI are really good firearms, previously owned a few trojans, a ranger ll, an Edge...
Currently own a trojan.

At 15K rounds per year,in 5 or some years, i wouldn't want to see a 4000$+ 1911 become a paperweight for lack of a 5.4'' replacement barrel.
Not as much now, but when i was in classic major i would dry fire 40 reloads everyday. Magwells we're changed every year. DVC magwells are bevelled at the rear i have seen, to fit the box.
Because i'll admit Sean, on income tax return, i'm getting damn near close of selling my trojan and switch out for a DVC.
But if there is nothing available in store parts wise (even if it had let's say the mention you have to show proof of ownership of a DVC to buy), you'll have a hard time seperating me from my 4K

Marty you can buy an AET barrel for approx. 300 and a standard one for 200 something, all better options than STI factory.

I am not sure what the big deal is for new single stacks either, they make great 1911s but at 2000+ for a Trojan etc.; it makes more sense to buy frame and slide to do your own builds.

I agree that builds are superior to factory built.
Been shooting for many years now, and i seem to never be able to keep guns.
Always flipping them.

In that sense and with that experience, factory guns keep up their value more.
If i we’re to settle once and for all, which i intend to do someday, i’d get IPSC Alex to build me one using STI frame and slide
