STI discontinuing all 1911 models ?

Marty you can buy an AET barrel for approx. 300 and a standard one for 200 something, all better options than STI factory.

I am not sure what the big deal is for new single stacks either, they make great 1911s but at 2000+ for a Trojan etc.; it makes more sense to buy frame and slide to do your own builds.

the factory sti barrel in the Trojan is good and accurate. how much better is an AET???...

you are right - factory STI barrels are great, and throwing one away thats still good to buy any other barrel is waste of good money. that being said however, if you need to spend money on a new barrel, IMHO there are a lot of better barrels available for same or less money than STI

per AET, you can read some pretty interesting (but dated) info here: schuemann.com/Portals/0/Documentation/Webfile_AET_BARRELS.pdf

You can never be too baller when it comes to shooting no-shoots.
Have to remember, no one can see your hits in videos, but they can see your equipment.

Freedom Ventures, I haven't received an invoice yet for the Sentinel.
My offer of $1000 will be decreased by $50 a week going fwd.
Time is money.

In 9mm i have little experience yet
In the timeframe i have owned an SV, i found that a .40SW AET barrel shooting 180gr zero projectiles, was the most accurate setup i had ever shot in a handgun, including revolvers with 6'' sight radius

The single-stack 1911 market is flooded. Everybody makes them.

Meanwhile; There's very few double-stack 2011 guns on the market.

I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing the new Remington 2011 line-up that's coming soon.

It looks basically the same as the pre 1990 para frame (Purchased from Darcy Boyer) I used to build on a Hicap before 2011's took over the scene, short of the different mag well. Was a great gun tuned correctly, hopefully the Remington can be too, but doubt it.

I will have to research my sources then, i was always told SV purchased Schuemann barrel blanks which they chamber reamed and TiN coated themselves

I will have to research my sources then, i was always told SV purchased Schumann barrel blanks which they chamber reamed and TiN coated themselves
I doubt that very highly.

I do know for a fact that SV is all about putting only products they make in house (including springs) in their guns. It helps them ensure high quality and delivery.

STI was exporting Schumann through their distributor network up until about 5 years ago (what a nightmare) - and I can tell you for sure that the old rivalry between STI and SVI - especially then, when Skinner still owned STI
- would have kept STI from doing it if Schumann was still partnering in any way with SVI.

SVI was using Schuemann AET barrels (1st gen) before they started making their own a while ago.

STI did buy some ribbed Schuemann barrels, for the Apiero only, wasn't the AET version.

HI; I got a PARA expert 9MM for 500ish dollars new. Shoots fine enough for IPSC. Did not know I needed a 4000 dollar gun to hit no shoots.

a Geo Metro which costs approx. $200-$500 (used) will get you from point A to point B, most of the time. begs the question why anyone would want a new GM or Ford, forget a BMW or Audi.

don't forget, spandex jerseys with vendor names take off 2 seconds off your COF on average :)

Sean, you guys do confirm that STI is dropping the 1911 platform except for the dvc classic
Will STI still offer single stack bare frames and 5” bald slides with stirrup cut in front?
At least we could still build some using a quality base for slide and frame

That is the plan AFAIK today.

I really hope that bare frames and slides are still going to be offered.
I built quite a few 1911's useing their frames,... trying to buy 10 or more frames to stock up would be a challenge to say the least. Of all the 1911 frames I have built on it is by far my favorite specifically the Master series frames. Very consistant tolerances and beautifull steel to machine.
