Awesome gun for IPSC/USPSA. Been shooting 2 of them for the last 5+ years and love em. Ditch the extractor and put an AFTEC in, swap out the plastic mainspring housing for a steel or aluminum one.

Exactly...+1,...I only used one for a year, but had the mainspring housing replaced with a steel one. I used the factory extractor and had no problems. Great guns,....very well made.
I had it ordered hard chromed, stainless magwell, FO front sight.
 
I have been shooting my chromed STI Edge for 6-yrs now with no problem. The only part I have to replace was the recoil master and after 25K-rounds I have to replace the original STI extractor with AFTEC.

You should be able to install your own AFTEC, it uses coil springs to create the tension so it doesn't require the tweaking (bending) that a traditional 1911 extractor might need.
