Bet you can't get the recoil master out, right?
You need the little green plastic tool chummy that came with your gun.
Hold the sidle with the muzzle pointing away from you and push the spring all the way forward and hold it while jamming the green plastic tool onto the rod which will protrude out the front of the slide. The wide part of the tool should be closest to you. Rotate the RM until the big part of the take down tool is facing down and slide it out toward you.
Here is what the STI site says:
Compress the Recoil Master using the reverse plug supplied with the system until you can insert the TAKE DOWN tool between the head of the GUIDE ROD and the front of the SPRING TUBE.
After installing the barrel back into the slide, turn the slide/barrel assembly upside down and insert the Recoil Master into the spring tunnel on the slide. It is not necessary to remove the TAKE DOWN tool until after you have reinstalled the slide on the gun.
It is recommended that you take this time to re-oil the slide and at the same time, you may wish to add a few drops of oil on the Recoil Master. Use of lubrication is strictly a shooters preference and will not affect the Recoil Master in any way.
Turn the slide assembly back over and install on the frame in the usual manner.
After aligning the slide stop with the link hole, you can now rack the gun and remove the TAKE DOWN tool. Place the TAKE DOWN tool in a safe place for future tear down and assembly.
Rack the gun a few times to check for any unseen interferences.
We hope you enjoy your new STI Recoil Master and good luck on the range.

PS: The edge has other differences, like a polymer frame, which is different from the basic 1911, but the guts are very similar.
