Easy there UncleWalther, slow down.
The STI 2011 series of guns is more IPSC/competition than anything else. What you get when you buy one is potential for excellence, or what most people call a competition platform. Think of it as a Harley you tinker with and setup($$$), then spend time and money keeping it that way. I have one, I know.
The STI 1911 series has much of the same parts but in a single stack. Probably as high end as you can get in that price range, without buying truly handmade custom jobs.
Oh, and the executive is hard chromed and the edge is not. What some people do is buy the edge, shoot the crap out of it in competition and practice until is it considered loose. Then have it hard chromed to tighten it up.
If you have the money to spend, which most likely you do if your off your HK habit. Why not buy a higher end 1911? Most all of the 1911 prodcers make a higher end line ie, custom shop, gold combat, "loaded" model ...etc.
Or you could really be the envy on your street buy a handmade custom 1911 from a company like Ed Brown, or the many others in that range.
Here is your fair warning. The 1911 habit is stronger than the HK habit.
