STI GP-6s have arrived!

Did anyone hear if Sean got his order last night? Everyday is like Christmas waiting with anticipation.

I was picking up another firearm from him today...yes he got his order. They were being unpacked when I got there.

And he is generally closed on the weekends but he may answer...doesn't hurt to try.

I probably won't be near the phone today, but will be working all weekend. Trying to sort the shipment, but yes - GP-6s are here. I'm short extra mags. I have some aftermarkets but they didn't have enough 10 rounders to go around this first time out. That's being remedied and I expect a shipment of mags in January.

Email or fax in any orders and I'll get to you in turn. Thanks!

Oh and BTW, if you ever ship something air cargo in late December, expect it to be delayed. This shipment got bumped off 6 different planes. Apparently, people with excess baggage take priority and the cargo has to wait...

Ah just made my order by email. I can't wait to try this thing out. When Marstar had those K100's last time I didn't have any money. Glad to see they cropped back up.

FYI

Unfortunately, I did not get any extra ten round magazines with the guns.
(10 round mag shortage)

I had hoped to convert existing stock Tanfoglio mags to work as extra mags, but they would not be pretty and it wouldn’t work. (and yes, I had approval from IPSC for production)

So… I can send the gun – which comes with 2 mags, but I can’t send extra mags until February.

Are these different in any way from the Grand Power equivalent?
Better in any way?

Well, it has a little metal insert with serial number (think more $$$ in cost) that is required in the US (ATF rules), but wasn't required on GP K100 to import to Canada (different rules)... Anyway, I think GP 6 will be as good.

The entire trigger system was redesigned in partnership with STI to create a smooth and lighter double action trigger, lighter, crisp single action trigger and ridiculously shot trigger reset.

Oh yes,

The trigger reset is VERY sweet. I test-fired one yesterday. VERY nice.

I had a choice between 3 guns to muck with, and the one with the "tuned" trigger was incredibly smooth. (Thanks Jim!) The other two were effectively out of the box. One "stock", the other with replacement sights and mag release. GET both options.

The origional was excellent already. Did the redesign of the metal frame insert include the trigger pivot?

Just waiting for the transfer!!

your were not kidding about the trigger reset, better than some 1911's...I do not recall any pistol (DA/SA) with such a short and crisp SA reset,...there is no build up and the trigger breaks very clean.

First impressions

The double action trigger out of the box is linear and smooth. The K100 has a tiny bit of stacking at the end of the double action pull, and it's been eliminated in the GP6.

The single action trigger is at least as good, and possibly better. My only fear is that with the very small amount of overtravel in this system, slapping the trigger might be a problem.

The safety has been improved with frame mounted detents instead of the old insert mounted detents. I suspect these are captive, but will find out for sure later. If they are, it will sure make lower frame disassembly easier.

I ordered mine with the large button mag catch, and recommend it.

The only thing that sucks is it will probably be 2 weeks before I get out to test fire it.
