Confession time.
I've been bad. My GP6 hasn't had a good frame cleaning since NIB. If I couldn't swab it out or blow it out, it stayed as is.
The reason is that I previously owned a Grand Power K100. Taking it's frame apart was a nightmare. Getting the safeties out was easy, but putting then back in required a fist full of valium and a glove bag. They had captive detents that were difficult to keep in place while the safety was installed. It also had a trigger spring held in place by the slide stop pin that was easy to install wrong.
The GP6 eliminates those problems.
After field stripping, the slide stop pin comes out. Then the safety levers are raised up and gently popped outwards. The rear crosspin comes out. Then the frame insert is moved a bit within the frame, and the safety cylinder is aligned with the opening in the frame and pulled out. Once the safety levers are removed, this cylinder will have no tension at all, and does need to be rotated into the right position to be removed.
At this point, the frame insert can be lifted out of the frame.
Remaining in the frame will be the magazine catch assembly, and the trigger assembly. For wiping out the frame, you can pop the blue spring detents for the safety out and rotate the trigger up.
The hammer is easy to remove. If you make sure the hammer is in the forward position, you can drive it's pivot pin out and just gently pull it up and out. The main spring is located inside the hammer. The sear is spring loaded and will move into the space created with the hammer removed. You can clean both without removing the sear.
Sorry, no pictures. I was too excited that I didn't have a bag full of spare parts left over.
