STI Grip Reduction

I wanted to give this a try to get a better fit on my gun, but I didn't want to use my new gun grip as the guinea pig. I also didn't want to send off my grip, nor buy one since I had no idea if it would even work for my hands. In the E&E I and came across a used grip that would become the test grind. I remove quite a bit of material from the rear, a bit less from the front (maybe I took off too much), and a significant amount from the sides. I didn't really know how the grip safety and receiver would interact, but it worked out just fine. Below are the grind and stipple/melt of the grip, and how it looks assembled. I should have been less aggressive with the melting on the front as the plastic dimpled in in a few spots, and it discoloured/burned slightly. Overall I am happy with the results.

I'm not normally a stippled grip lover. But in this case the pattern you managed to produce looks darn good. And I suspect it really glues itself to your hands.
