Ok so I've been under a rock for a while and just saw the STI perfect 10. I have not been this attracted to a handgun since discovering .357s. I know ammo is expensive thus forcing reloading and this will probably not see much use. But I have to ask if anyone owns this and has announced opinions?

Durability? Especially in full power 10mm reloads. I have no interest in factory ammo except as a source of brass.
Quality? I hear STI is excellent for the money. Still true on perfect 10?
2011 platform? Improvement on 1911 or just marketing speak?

I think I'm in love but i can't tell if it is true love or infatuation. I have a credit card and poor impulse control. Save me from myself. 

Sorry, but your CC is DOOMED! ! ! ! I've shot a bunch of STI guns on and off and there's not a bad one in the bunch. In fact one of the best ever groups I've ever shot was two back to back mags from an STI Rangemaster. The first group was as tight as anything I could do with my own guns and the second, being better used to the trigger now, was tighter still by a good amount. And even their less expensive models don't fall far from this sort of feel and performance. So although a 10mm is one that I haven't actually shot I don't see why it won't be as good as the 8mm, .40S&W and .45ACP models that I've tried.

The ONLY bad thing I can offer about STI is that for some reason their finish seems to be a little delicate. And that shows up as an early "patina" of wear and buffing of the surfaces if you use the gun a lot from holsters or don't protect it well during transport and use.

I wanted a STI too till i placed an irder yesterday on this under $1600

x2 to everything said here...

I bought a .40 cal Sentry and had a gunsmith convert it to 10mm. Most accurate handgun I have ever shot - a laser pistol that will drive nails. If I ever have kids they will be burying me with this one.

Ya the perfect 10 is a very nice 10mm. I'm curious to hold their 2011 frame to see how it works for me. If STI made a 6" 1911 in 10mm based on the Sentry or even the range master with a fdc, I'd be in.
