I bought a Dawson Precision front sight from Freedom Ventures for my STI Ranger II. The new sight is .295", and my dovetail is about .245". I get that sometimes some fitting is necessary, but is much of a difference normal? Or did I order the wrong sight? Any suggestions or insights on this? Or do I just need to start filing?

Interesting. Is that at the base of the dovetail? If it is at the base, that would seem out of spec. I just ordered sights for a Ranger II as well. I checked with STI first and they said the front was 0.300" x 60 degrees at 0.140" tall, so that is what I ordered. I have not tried to put it in yet but i'll go measure. I ordered the STI brand night sights. The front looks like it is plastic which is a disappointment...
