I was thinking of buying an STI Ranger2, but was wondering if anyone has any feed back obout them? I like the fact it comes in 9mm, .40, and .45. I also like the idea of the barrel being just over prohib length! I believe it is 4.15 inches, and means that it is just about 105.5mm. The asking price was around the $1,000 mark. Is it worth it? Thanks!

I got's one. I like it, but had to change the low pro grips for some beefier micarta's.

Pics are in the 1911 photo thread, second from last page now.

I have one in 9mm and love it.Its a joy to shoot with little recoil.I find them to be well made guns.
Usually you can find used ones for about 950 bucks.

I wouldn't pay $1000 for it...the finish isn't that great IMO and I hate the STIpplings. Also the "compact' model is pretty much a full size.

I love mine !! it s tight , accurate and look awsome . The only thing is that the blueing wears off pretty fast around the front strap and beaver tail . Otherwise its a great gun . I m thinking of getting rid of mine to fund a Nighthawk T3 . Im a little saden by the fact i ll only get 1000$ for it , mine has less then 100 rnds . Oh but mine has night sights :)

I agree it's a nearly perfect 1911 in 9mm. I like full-size 1911s in .45, but the 9mm Ranger II is incredibly tight and smooth, very solid and stable, and deadly accurate to boot. The only thing I don't like is the STI finish, which seems pretty weak for such a high quality handgun. I'm getting mine refinished in a classic blue.

Good guns, very accurate. Had one in 9mm that didn't like truncated cone ammo very much, but fed flawlessy with 115gr jacketed round nose ammo.

Thanks for the info guys, I am a little concerned about the finish, I may just keep looking at other options for now. Thanks guys! Cheers!

You can order one in hard chrome finish. Also, I think that WildWest Shooting centre in Edmonton has some NIB ones with the older stainless slide configuration.

ranger II

I have one in 45, Love it smooth shooting and recoil feels like a 40. If I could only keep one gun this would be it. I can not say enough about it.
