STI Spartan front sight?

I'm seriously thinking about getting a Spartan, but I'm wondering about that front sight.

Of those that have them for defensive pistol or IPSC how is that front sight holding up? I'm worried about losing or knocking off that piece of fiber-optics while drawing from a holster.

Mine is fine, but I have only had it for a short while. In the holster I use, there is also plenty of clearance as well!

Been drawing from a holster over 1500 times front site is still there, this economy Sti is one of the best 1911's I have owned. There is some of sti's custom work here and there... wished the slide and frame fit was better up front... you can see threw where the frame and slide meet, but its still an exellent shooter. I really like the stock sights the the spartan

I am comparing to a $1200 springfield loaded and $2300 operator

even if you did loose it, fiber optic rod inserts are inexpensive , easy to get, and you still have a front sight so you can still shoot.

The nice thing about an STI if you break something.send them an email and Chris will send the part next day. Try that with HK
I have two and am waiting on another. A 9 mm stainless Trojan.
You cant beat STI service.
