STI Spartan.... resale value?

I am still kind of stuck between buying a Spartan and a Norinco.

Say I bought the Spartan with Gunnar's trigger job, and for whatever reason, wasn't impressed with the gun for the price (sure $950 is a drop in the bucket for some, but for me it will be the most I have ever spent on a gun... EVER lol). What would you guys think the resale value would be both: a)unfired and b)with say 200-300 rounds through it.

My Spartan is great! I got lucky and bought one for about 300 less then your price but it was just stock at that time no armco trigger job but they are pretty decent guns stock.
 
In case you haven't noticed, on the EE anything goes.

Plenty of people post used guns for retail price minus tax and I'll be damned if they don't sell (eventually)

In Canada guns seem to age like fine wine.
 
750$ is the price I've seen the most around here (actually aside from new, I've not seen another price)
its also the price I paid for mine, I was looking for an used from gunnar, found it, seller also threw in 200 .45 cases, which I have so far reloaded half a dozen times

but as you might've realized, I spread the spartan luv' everywhere, cause it's so awesome.

I am just a bit afraid of ordering such an expensive gun without being able to inspect it first lol. God forbid should I order one and there be a scratch on it.... I think I would have a heart attack lol. Even better would be to compare it side by side with one of the new Norincos. Though I kind of figure.... by the time I buy a Norc, have it tuned, add the few parts I want, have a beavertail fitted so the web of my hand doesn't keep getting sore from the frame edges sticking out on each side, and add new sights I will be close price-wise to the Spartan. The Spartan comes with everything I would want right off the bat. It's just convincing myself to drop $950 in one shot that's the problem.

Anyone else have any pics of their Spartan to post? Targets? Not all that many pics on the net. Any complaints about the gun? Or criticisms?

It's between this and a Glock17. But I was at the range tonight, and shot a friend's G17, and damn.... I shoot way left at 17yds with it. Really annoying, since I usually shoot the 1911 dead center. Not too bad a group with the Glock, but a few inches to the left of the black. I always seem to shoot left with Glocks... and i don't have any trigger finger to spare, so I hope it's not that I am using too little trigger finger.
 
The Spartan is one of the very few guns it's hard to find any reports of real issues with. On US forums you'll hear whining about it not being a "Real American Gun" - but that's about it. It will do exactly what any other 1911 will do, the clincher with the Spartan is that it'll do it for several hundred dollars less. You'll get a tightly fitted competition (as opposed to combat) pistol. It will probably require 200 rounds of full power ball ammo through it, because they are tight when new. If you would feel good about owning any other 1911, you'll be good with the Spartan. The one I handled felt like any other STI 1911- minus the price.
 
Buy it you will love it, I love it so much I got rid of the parkerized finish and got it blued.
I have a hard time distigushing between my STI trojan (9mm) and the spartan other than the extra $400 in my pocket ;)
 
If the gun is unfired, subtract $50-100 from the pretax price of the base pistol (trigger jobs typically add nothing to the resale price of a used gun). If it has been fired, subtract another $50-100.
 
Spartain resale value.....

Some guys like to get all their money back out of them, including the sales tax and shipping..... :p

I love my Spartan, bought it from Gunnar a year or two ago and have never looked back. It feeds ball and semi-wadcutter ammo flawlessly and has never had a ftf or fte.
 
Can-down.... does Gunnar have an inspection period for new guns? Knowing that would put my mind at ease. I think I saw it say on his website that there is an inspection period on used guns.... does this apply to new as well?

How many rounds do you guys have through your Spartans with no problems?

Probally close to 20000 down range maybe 200 jacketed the rest cast lead semi wad cutter 200 grs. Holster wear is minimal on the finish...

Here are those Expensive steel pads to replace those cheap plastic ones... they come in aluminium too... steal gives it a bit more weight

400 since I got it, last owner's round count is around 1000,
togheter we shot about 100 copper plated, the remaining ±1300 is all cast

I would've shot more, but I had to pull out two complete batches because my expander die wasn't set properly

Damn that is a nice looking gun..... where did you get the steel base plates if you don't mind me asking?

I see there is still one for sale on the EE.... but alas, it has the 'newbie' scratch on it. :(
 
You can fix up a newbie scratch a bit with some parkerized touch up... those steal base plates are from novak in the states... because they cheap crappy plastic ones broke and they dont stand behind there products because "mags arnt meant to be droped on the floor" watch and action movie jeez lol 5 bumpers ran me about 100 bucks...

I spent alot of time hand fileing the magwell so it matches up with the frame... its a good gun to shoot...

It's been my experience that most good gun sellers will take back an unfired gun if it does not meet expectations.
