does anyone know what the spring [recoil] rate is in a Spartan ?? Dont get me wrong I like the gun.....especially for 800 bucks [it shoots almost as good as my 1500 dollar Kimber] but hmmm. that stock spring was soft, it was finished on both ends [ a nice touch] but .... I'm thinking about 12 lbs.?? anybody have any real info. about this other than my ...throw in a 20 pounder ..... and go ... Holy Crap . approch . thanks for any info. or opinions Chris

Dunno what to say, mine (as new) had a stiff recoil spring that I swapped with 14# one and it works very nicely.

If it works fine why would you choose to second guess the manufacturer? I think STI might just know a thing or two about 1911's... ;)

well i wasnt second guessing STI but ANYONE can make an error....and I'm kinda thinkin John Browning [and Kimber] probably have the right idea with a heavier spring I have a 20 # in now but may go a little lighter i think i have an 18.5# in my spring kit Thanks for all the help chris
