STI Trojan or?

Thats a lot of coin for a pistol, no matter how you slice it.

Depends entirely on perspective and what you enjoy doing. I’ll happily pay that and more for a pistol that will hold X-ring at 50m, a nice rimfire rifle, or a clays shotgun but wouldnt spend $0.10 on an AR.

If you plan on shooting for accuracy I could see spending a little more for the quality

Given this, I would just go for the higher end gun off the top. Long run - the price difference is not much compared to ammo cost. I think there is enough of a difference all around to make it worth while getting into the 2200-2700 range. To answer your previous question, that is where i would probably put the threshold these days. I have a Dan Wesson and a LB. I'd put them on a similar level (or close). DW is the example of what high tech manufacturing can deliver whereas LB is the classic handfitted approach.

Good point we focus a little too much on the Firearm cost if you plan to shoot alot..

That is a good point. An extra $1,000 on a .45 is only a couple of cases of ammo.

I remember the Trojans being on sale at Freedom Ventures for Black Friday in 2015 at $1,050 (marked down from $1400)
More than 100% is one heck of a price increase in just 2 years. Has anyone heard or read any kind of explanation? I know STI almost all of their "cheaper" offerings recently. I wonder if this new price on the Trojan is more about trying to rebrand themselves as a "high end" race gun manufacturer?

It is all moot at this point, STI is getting out of the single stack market except for the DVC and 1 or two others. They are now focusing on their 2011 product lines.

I remember that as well, I sat on the fence, and am now kicking myself for not grabbing one then. I,m not interested in one at the current pricing.

All that matters is that you feel good about it after you bought it.

I think your right about the rebranding, the basic STI 1911 seems to be a thing of the past

If you’re after a 9mm the LB is out unless you’ve got $3500 to spend. For some reason 9mm is a premium priced upgrade with them. TRP isn’t made in 9mm and though the DW Valor is I’ve never seen one for sale.

Go with the Colt. You can always send it out for work later.

Out of curiosity, why did you propose DW Valor, but not PM9 ? With adjustable sight and fiber optic, ribs on top, does it provide better value ?

I have zero experience with the PM9. I have never seen one, let alone held or shot one, so it didn’t come to mind. Looks like a nice gun.

If your Sam is reliable. Shoots straight and has no malfunctions, it will be as good as a trojan, with less vanity.
If 700$ works, its as good as a $7000 svi as far as our ipsc needs are.

I took a springfield loaded target and Ro to nationals. My loaded has to this point served me well over 40k rounds and will serve another 20ish this year.

I'm not saying dont buy once cry once, just dont expect anything but a vanity gain with a nice gun. I intend to upgrade to a sti dvc, or full custom at the end of this year. But that's my present if i make the worlds team
