I think I am finally going to fold and buy an STI; likely a VIP 4.15. Just wondering if anyone owns one of these, and if so, what are your impressions?
 
I don't think you can go wrong with one of these. Are you actually going to use it with a light, or do you just want that option. I just purchased an Edge from Freedom Ventures, and I already have a gun with a rail (USP) but I have never used the rail. It is a good option to have, but the added weight of the Full dust cover may be better in some regards. If you are setting it up as a more "tactical" pistol, then get the tritium sights with it.
 
No, not going to use a light. I want a 9mm, fixed sights, with a short barrel. I think the Ranger II or VIP are the only options. Would also consider the Tac 4.15.
 
9mm, personally, I would stick with an HK, or wait for the HK45, which is due out in 2007. It will most likely be available in 9mm"HK9mm"

The STI is very nice especially with mag well and bull barrel.

Sigh... you may be right. I see it is no longer on the STI website. I do, however, know of one dealer that has one in stock.
