Anyone know the pros and cons of a STI trojan vs a Kimber stainless target II in 9mm?Price wise there about the same but i wondered if one was better overall than the other?
If you buy a STI from Armco and it doesn't work, send it back and Gunnar will fix it for free.
If you buy a Kimber and it doesn't work, send it to Armco and he'll fix it but it will cost you
I've owned two Kimber's and two STI's. I returned the slide on the Kimber Pro TLE to Kimber and it came back perfect. I returned the slide on the Kimber Stainless TLE and it came back much worst than before I returned it. I had to pay Gunnar to fix it and then it worked perfectly.
I bought an STI Hard Chrome Edge from Armco and the thing could not get through one magazine without jamming. I returned it to Gunnar who fixed it for free in a week and its worked perfectly ever since.
I'd buy the STI from Armco, because you know Gunnar backs it up and STI make excellent guns.
STI due to the lack of a proprietary grip/firing pin hybrid safety system that adds useless parts that are unnecessary (oh yes, and the not having to leave the country for repair thingy)
I've only fired a few rounds through an STI so I won't comment on them. I own a Kimber TLE/RL and will comment on the issue of warranty work, as mine needed some done.
Initially I called Kimber and they simply sent the necessary parts for free- no issues. I then had another issue that I contacted them on that required me to send them my slide. They took the slide, completely rebuilt it (including replacing the night sights which were at this point 5 years old because they "didn't seem bright enough" ), again- all for free and completely hassle free. No issues since. I love my Kimber and based on it's performance alone don't see a need to go with any other manufacturer.
I have had 3 Kimbers, very nice guns, loved all of them. Last week I bought my first STI, a Trojan, it is that much better I find and yes as has been said, the repair thing is a big positive when it comes to STI and not having to leave the country.
