I see them on EE & their claim is im more of a 1911 guy ( 2 now same claim ).
Are they not a 1911 & my plan has always been to get a $2500+ done STI, should i consider a different brand maybe?

Now after getting the S&W 1911 PC i love 1911's

I assume you are looking at the double stack 2011s. no they arent a 1911 per say, they have a thicker frame than a 1911 (obviously to be double stack) but will have the same 1911 triger pull, grip angle ect

STI s are fine guns . As to whether they are 1911s depends on the model , as Heaven has said there are the double stack plastic framed guns that are loved by the competition shooters but there are also a series of metal framed single stacks that very much 1911s and are first rate guns .
There is no reason to change brands , just decide what you want look carefully and then buy it.

There is no scarcity of choice out there for the 1911 shooter.

STI s are fine guns . ....the double stack plastic framed guns....

The frame is, in fact, steel. The modular grip can either be plastic or aluminum.
