Sticky BLO coating - solutions?

**** Had a duplicate thread in the off topics, but have lost it and the search function doesn't work in there.



I coated some wood with BLO and didn't wipe it after, now it's sticky. Would I be ok to just soften the current coat with another coat of BLO then wipe it clean, or is there a solvent or spirit I should use to lift the sticky top layer?

Maybe you used Unboiled (raw) by mistake?
Either use BLO as a lifter or low odor varsol
seems to work.
If all else fails, paint remover and start all over.

Nah - same stuff, just applied too heavily. I'll give the BLO the first try, as I've already got it

fine steel wool lifted the excess PRLO that I missed on my M1

warm soapy water and 00000 steel wool will take it off nicely. Use a little extra liquid dish soap in the water though.
