Sticky for Ruger PCC

true, but old eyes don't like the rear sight so close to face. hence all my stuff is now optics or fudd guns with rear sight forward of the receiver ...

you could try pushing the back irons forward a bit. It would just lose a bit of accuracy.

The irons I have are flip up/down and I only use them as a backup when the red dot dies. crappy irons is better than nothing.

So, about nine days ago my PC Carbine 9mm was delivered to me just in time for the weekend! I put a couple snap caps in and noticed that something was offish. Tipped the gun up and down and side to side and could hear a little rattle. OK... time to inspect. Removed the "take-down screw" that was in front of the trigger. I took a look at the "take-down screw" closest to the butt and see that it looks like it is in at an angle. When I tried to back the screw out I discovered that the head of the scrtew was only held in place by some friction. The head offered no resistance and fell right off. Removed the stock and was able to easily spin the screw shaft out. Back to the rattle... it was a primer from the factory test firing. Surgically pulled that out and it was a non issue.

However, I can not use the gun because of the broken screw. I contacted Ruger eight days ago and they got back to me almost instantly. They put me in touch with the Canadian warranty provider and they were excellent to deal with. Ruger OKed a new screw to be sent to me and got a notification about this yesterday. However, in the email the last line read "Note there is an item or items backordered on this sales order. There is no ETA available at this time."

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I might be able to acquire this "take-down screw" here in Canada? I'm sure finding hen's teeth is an easier quest for me. There is not a part number listed but is identified in the manual as a "take down screw".

Is same as 10/22 takedown screw so available from a few sources including a member here in the EE.
Alternatively Volquartsen make one as does Dlask Arms and there are some on amazon.

I do believe the screws are #12-24 which you might be able to track down at a hardware store or similar. I've had mine apart so many times to build mine into a FAL clone there are hardly any original parts left. I'd love to source a new barrel to lighten up the front end a bit though.20240819_132356.jpg

Alberta Tactical Rifle might be able to help.
They make barrels, chassis and forends for the Ruger pcc.
So, they might have that size screw.

Sorry for the late reply... It is a 12-24. I checked hardware stores, machine shops, car dealerships, industrial supply companies, and even my local fish monger 🐟. No one has them... I have found them online but between an outrageous price for the screw and then double or even triple that price for delivery I refuse to pay $35 + for a screw.
Bolts plus or Brafasco (white cap) woould probably have it, They have all the specialty screw,,,,,mostly.

you can also try reaching out to ruger (handled by Gravel Canada) for the warranty if you havent fixed it yet

they will send you a form to fill and will need copies of your PAL.

the process will take 1-2 months but that doesnt matter since they are prohib right now

I like mine. It is, and will remain, pretty much bone stock standard model. So far, I've only used reloads with cast bullets. I have a cheap TASCO red dot on it. I use clone Glock mags.

Does anyone know if the Alberta Tactical Rifle chassis is compatible with Hers Arms CQR Gen1 stocks? I emailed ATRS a few weeks ago but they never responded :(

No, the PC9 chassis does not match the profile of an AR lower, so the Hera Arms CQR won't fit without significant modification.

Who exactly did you email though because we have not received any such inquiry?
