I am reloading .243 for my wifes Savage, the problem I am having is the bolt feels resistance (stiff) when closing ( moving bolt handle down). With factory shells the bolt moves slick. I have resized the brass (lee dies) and made a dummy round for overall length, this is the only round I have put through the chamber. Could the resizing die not be adjusted properly? Or am I missing something?

I have found out what was wrong, stupid me only adjusted the die to touch the shell holder and not the extra 1/3 turn. I guess that is why they say to check, check and if you are sure about it still check one more time.

give your resizing die another half turn.. check it for fit.
load a dummy, if it doesnt fit repeat the process by turning quarter turns until the bolt handle turn down and locks nice and smooth.
I've had the same problem.. its just a die adjustment.

I had the same problem on one of my 30-06's a few years ago. I resized the case as far down as it would go by touching the shell holder and it still was a bit stiff closing the bolt handle. I removed a little off of the top of the shell holder, maybe 4-5 thou. and that made all the difference in the world. I measured my friends shell holder he got in his rcbs set and sure enough mine was the same size as his and that was after the metal removal so for sure it was made just a bit to big.
