Hey Thomas,

Seems like somebody @ Canada Post dosen't like you. I remember that they lost/misplaced the custom stock I bought from you last year.

Might I suggest you use a different shipper of stocks. I realize guns need to ship by Can Post, but couldn't stocks go by another shipper?

just my $0.02

I've thought of using greyhound collect..... fantastic service, but poor tracking ability. Couriers charge more than the average cgn'er wants to pay for shipping.... so canada post it is.
The issues i faced last year with tracking and parcels was the postal outlet i was dealing with at the time. The elderly chinese lady there was stashing parcels and they were gettting missed by the postal pick up trucks and sitting in the storage room at the outlet..... I no longer deal with that postal outlet and was instrumental in having that poor lady removed from her position with Canada Post.
Heck i sent Winz an oprod last month from one of canada posts central stations.... not the kind in a store, the actual canada post building in surrey, b.c. They managed to lose that oprod, even though it went express, 5 day with tracking and signature. They have no record of the tracking slip in thier system and are fighting me over the insurance. I have the tracking slip AND the till receipt. I'll have to eat over 200.00 as a loss, but will not share that loss with my customer. Winz will get a new oprod within a week or so, or i will gladly send him back his $$$ . I'm just glad he's not one of those guys airing his issues out in the forum......

anyhow, I've said enough. i guess i could pull the plug on the whole operation but then with an average of 6 to 10 rifles arriving every week for custom work....... and not one of those clients complaining.... I'm onto a good thing. retail and product developement can wait untill i am able to organize things and carefully choose someone to handle the retail side. Until then, things will stay as they are. Besides, I prefer working on the rifles, even if there isn't much money in it. Retail is of course the road to profits, but i'm not too concerned about that. I do this because i enjoy it and because there aren't many options for a gunsmith in this country when it comes to someone specializing in the M14. yes there are a few.... but after guys bringing rifles to me that had been butcherd by other known smiths in this country...... I decided to step up to the plate and do what i enjoy, customizing and tuning the rifles.

So with that, I've got 2 barrels to nick down and a full usgi build on my plate today, time to get back to work.

You should write a book on how bad canada post is , no one i know has ever had as bad a luck as you, and i have even had a handgun stolen by an canada post employee.
Never steal a gun thats endended for the rcmp, they will find you:rockOn:
bbb

your absolutely right Navy Cuda...... and for that reason i announced some months ago that i was ceasing retail operations and just offering gunsmithing services. Not one of those customers is on here slagging me.
simply put, if i have an issue with someone i've purchased from, i pick up a phone...... my phone never rang. Also it should be noted that while these fellows stocks were being done up, they were already trying to sell them to someone else.... deciding that the m14 was not thier thing. So i got emails from thier prospective buyers asking if the stocks could be painted in other schemes.....one of those guys even sent his address for the stock to be redirected to.... then no contact for over a month... then threads on gunnutz asking for my whereabouts...... but still no phone call.

BUT, I screwed up, so i'm not trying to pass the buck onto my clients. In the end, they will get the product as paid for.... matter of fact it shoukld be any day now. I am not obligated to issue a refund, I am obligated to deliver the product as purchased and I have been endeavoring to see that end thru.

So if customers jump ship, well, that's business. However if you want your rifle tuned or custom work done, at arguably the best prices in the country, please email me rather than p.m. me. My reputation in that regard is untarnished and there is a growing list of guys out there with rifles i've tuned that are exceptionally pleased with my work and turn around time. I am in fact guaranteeing 2 week turn around on match condition work..... or it's free, not including barrel chops and shipping fees.

Hey I know where you are coming from!

I worked for a guy where if you dropped off your car for like... 3 or 4 hours of work it would stay at his shop sometimes for months. Sometimes even the oil change jobs ended up staying over night due to his lack of organization!

Finally I lost it and went home. Now I'm unemployed haha.

i was actually going to write an OT rant about ups.
After being charged 120$ at my front door for a 400$ bass guitar 3 years ago I decided my relationship with UPS ended. Bought some stuff couple weeks ago and it was finally delivered TODAY. Of course I wasn't there and surprise surprise, f**kin UPS, this BS; I didn't expect. I was expecting a fun Canadapost/USPS package as with my last 3 full years of internet shopping. No, it was UPS; scumbags of the universe. They will retry delivery tomorrow from before 10:30am to after 5pm. Pickup in my location is impossible, of course. 3rd attempt, package is sent back to sender. at LEAST canadapost and others lets you pick it up.

Maybe when they lose one of my package I'll join your CP rant but so far everything I have received/sent made it in one immaculate piece (except one enveloppe from Lyman, I'm very surprised the package stayed in, the hole was big enough to lose all content) and I will gladly keep doing business.

Canada Post (or UK Post) lost an air mail package of mine just last month: a box measuring 8x12x6. I am again paying for the same product to be shipped to the customer because I would rather eat the cost than have that customer (HSBC Bank) wait for said product to go through insurance claims. I am glad I have that luxury otherwise, I am sure that customer would be going elsewhere. I am not impressed with their service but I can't afford to use a courier internationally.

no way one man can have that much bad of luck with the post. if so maybe buy a lotto ticket. because the odds are deep in your favour, meaning lighting striking in the same places twice. in your case numerous times. because it is hard to believe a half dozen or more orders are mis placed because of canada post. on the other hand, i had no problem with dealing with you.

I bought an item for a fellow CGN last fall. Sent him a postal money order,
with tracking # ,
but no signature required,
in the usual CP envelope.

The seller was nice enough to send me the item on my statement that
"the cheque was in the mail"

I got his item in a few days, but he didn't get my PMO ... even though Canada Post SWORE up and down, that it was delivered to him. With no signature required, it became a bad dream as to who to believe, a CGN member with an impeccable HIGH trader rating, or Canda Post.
so,
AFTER the waiting period, and after no cashed PMO showed up, CP did issue a credit for the missing PMO. Everything eventually resolved itself.

A few months ago, literally six months after this transaction, I get a PM from the seller ... Guess what?

You guessed it .... the original PMO finally showed up.

This is why they call it "SNAIL MAIL".

I could go on with moie horror stories, like the one involving fork lift tire tracks over my newly delivered target rifle cardboard shipping box, and how CP said " if ALL of the pieces arrived, well then nothin got lost, so NO INSURNCE FOR YOU!!!.

But instead, all I will say is that I once spent a frigid Winter in Saskatchewan, unloading boxcars of mail, working for Canada Post.
BRRrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

If you think your packages are treated with respect and consideration by the CP handlers ...
you must also believe in the tooth fairy.

I believe Thomas ....
he has his faults,
and starting a new business is never easy,
but I know Thomas to be a person who does the best job he can on EVERY M14 he gets,
and who cares about his work and his customer's satisfaction.

and if you know me,
you probably know I NEVER give out compliments lightly.

So give the guy a break ... or else go to one of his seminars, or Barney's seminars, or my seminars, and learn how to do it yourself.

Then you will really know who to blame when things go wrong ....
right?

thanx to those who can see past this...... and especially you LAZ . we've had our own issues and I'm glad to have you posting in my defense.

I do in fact believe something is up with the lowermainland processing office and to that end i have asked a friend in law enforcement if there is anything they can do to look into this. Over the past 2 years i have at my own expense , replaced or refunded over 2000.00 of product that never got where it was intended to go. That's 3 m14 stocks running in excess of 400.00 each and several parts related items.

That all said, I don't blame Kyle87T or his brother Lazedout for being pissed off..... but i won't tolerate anyone else trashing my name ..... unless your name has been on my customer list and i have actually done you wrong somehow.
I'm surprised to see King66 making his comments...... in the past thread about my whereabouts, started by my friend Oldsmobiler, who never intended it to be a "trash thomas" thread, King66 said i was over charging for everything i sell..... hmmmmm he listed my new manufacture OPRODS sold by Dlask at 265.00 and the manufacturer of that oprod's price at 265.00 .... when in fact MY price to you CGN'ers is a whopping ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY (plus shipping) ..... 70.00 cheaper than ANYONE in north america.

Regardless of all this, I intend to keep on truckin and while things are a little frantic in my personal life, my gunsmithing services are not affected. I will however hold off on any further business related retail until I am satisfied that i can provide a smooth purchasing experience for my clients.

So, with all that, I'll take my leave of this thread , and i want to thank the many folks who took the time to email me with words of support and encouragement since this thread began. Every customer is valuable to me, but at the end of the day..... if you want perfection in every detail...... you may want to deal with someone else...... because I am far from perfect.

cheers
Thomas

45acpking, your response was the best i've seen from a dealer, or private member in such a situation. Hope your life gets turned around and things get on the right track. I personaly would deal with you anytime. Keep on truckin' man

This thread is full of fail!

Regardless of personal problems, since when is it acceptable to basically have a bunch of interest free loans from people? I feel for guys like kyle87t and i'm glad I never got mixed up in your shenanigans.

And hunting plans? please... If I paid you for a stock that you were months late in delivering I could give a s**t less about your recreational activities, and as far as i'm concerned they should be put on hold until you fulfill your business obligations.

oh yea an IBTL

Do you have any idea how disruptive something like a divorce is for a small owner/operator type business? Thousands of small companies are wiped out every year due to "personal problems", and I am impressed that he stuck with his company through the worst of it.

I had a buddy drop off his computer for service in one of those "Mom and pop shop" computer places. They went under while working on his PC (due to problems stemming from the owner's divorce), and creditors came and grabbed every single computer inside the building. He tried for months to get his PC back without any luck dealing with the banks and lawyers that gutted the building. My buddy and 8 other customers lost their PCs because the owner called it quits.

Thankfully this is not what happened with 45ACPKING. He stuck with it.

I was planning on getting him to do some work on my own rifle, and the only thing holding me back from sending my rifle in is all the nice weather we are having. I've been having too much fun at the range lately, but once it cools off outside I will happily send my rifle to him for some tuning.

The man's come in here and said his piece. He could have just disappeared and screwed everyone over but he's making an effort.

I'm not saying you should use his business but at least the guy came in here and did the right thing and spoke up rather than leaving everyone in the dark speculating as to what is going on.

I really think the point of this thread has been accomplished, the guy knows whats going on with his stock and how to get any more info if required. Maybe a MOD should close it down as its merely a bash and defend thread thats going nowhere.

To Glock 9X19:
I know for a FACT that, at the Wetcoast M14 Seminars, over the past three years, Thomas has personally worked on well over a hundred M14 rifles
FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE.
That's right ...
NO CHARGE for hundreds of hours of his time and skilled labor, doing M14 tuneups, barrel chops, and everything else that came in the door during the 14 seminars he held in his own home.
PLUS providing some damn good Bambi Burgers to the M14 seminar people!

Thomas has given generously to the M14 community.

So what about you, 9X19 ...
what have you done to contribute to the Canadian shooting community,
besides criticising others who ARE trying to contribute?

I know Thomas personally, and he has some hard earned credibility in the M14 community ....
Where is your credibility in this?
Have you ever dealt with Thomas personally?
Or do you just enjoy criticising strangers, who you know nothing about, on threads on the internet cause it makes you feel bigger?
Hmmmmm?

Enquiring minds want to know ...
and yes, the original question has been answered,
so maybe it is time foir this thread to go bye bye!
