Still undecided...

Some kind of .22lr would be my suggestion. Either a double action revolver like a Taurus Tracker or Smith and Wesson 617 or a semi like the Ruger 22/45.
 
Go into your local firearms dealer and handle quite a few guns. Don't just go by looks in photos. This is obvious to many people but there are always some that make an expensive mistake by not handling the firearm beforehand. Find out what feels good in your hands and then solicit opinions or use the search function on CGN. What feels right in your buddies hand may not be right for you. Also, going with something in .22lr by default is not necessary in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.

You can't go too far wrong with a Ruger or Buckmark .22 LR. If you start with a larger caliber, the cost of the cartridges may keep you from enjoying the sport.
