i have a brand new cz452 lux and anchutz 1416 i have herd that cci stingers can be bad for some rimfire chambers i assume it has to do with length of chamber as i belive stinger 22 shells are a liitle longer than other 22lr amunition can anyone shed light on this should i avoid cci stingers for my two new rifles

I would. I owned a CZ American and I really had to give the bolt a hard push to get it to close with stinger. It had a match chamber and the stinger was too long.

Those are 2 nice rifles you have and I wouldn't change wrecking the chamber.

I shoot stingers in my Winchester 06 slide action from the 1930s.

And both my Semi auto, and bolt action Mossberg .22's, with no real problems, but once in a while a case will get stuck halfway out in the semi auto. Which usually means it is time to clean it. :)

I can use stingers in my Remington 541 THB and from my Savage MarkII FV but the wont extract from my BSA Martini. I needed a cleaning rod to pop them out. If you have amatch chamber in your rifles, its not really worth it.

A friend of mine put a stinger into a quarter at 50 yards once and it didn't even penetrate. Big assed dimple, but not through. They are fast but I think highly overrated. On critters I find winchester power points to be more effective as are the Velocitors. Both of which punched through quarters at 100 yards. Go figure.

The stingers worked well in my 1403 biathlon, I think the chamber was a trifle larger because it was made to use outside in the snow.
The rifle I just had rechambered with a match chamber, engraves rifling on the end of the stinger case, so the stingers get used in the Cooey, the wife's Rinco and the pistols.

Most people on Rimfire Central don't have a lot of use for Stingers as far as accuracy goes. For me that would be enough, but I have a GM barrel so it's not even an issue.

I have shot stingers in my semi Marlin 60.

You can definitely feel the extra snap.

They shoot poorly from my gun though, so I gave up on them after one box.

Stingers bullets are lighter so they can be effected by wind more then a .22.
But Overall they are a good product.

BTW, on a side note a local butcher I know was telling me the other day that he ran out of .22 mag, and couldn't find it anywhere to buy, so he brought home a box of stingers, and said they where dropping cows like no tomorrow.

Mind you he is shooting them with a rifle from 2 feet away right into there brain pan, but just goes to show you how powerful this little cartridge can be.

They cost aloth for what their worth. Use them a couple times a year.

I think they are also a no-no in most after market barrels.

Why would they be?
They gain velocity by using a lighter bullet.
Pressure levels are supposed to be well within industry standards.

chamber

A stinger will not fit in a match chamber, which is what most aftermarket barrels use. The case on a stinger is about .100" longer than a standard 22lr and will only chamber properly in most sporter chambers. You can force a stinger in some bolt actions, but it may hurt the first bit of the rifling. In my experience with stingers, all the guns I have shot them in I got patterns like a shotgun. Very poor accuracy in my experience, I have gotten better results from the hyper velocity federals and yellowjackets. JMO, Later
