Smear Crisco on the area around the nipple and on the scope if equiped. Makes wiping off the mess easier in that area.

Before shooting. You can wipe it off and reapply more as you go. When done wipe it of then wipe with wet towel. I smear a bit on the nipple tacking care no to get any on the hole. Makes getting spent caps off that have stuck. Also for hunting it waterproofs the nipple and cap.

but you know...i was amazed at the shooting i was doing with it for a first time..i was hitting pop cans about 25 yards away every shot..i cant wait till i get out and do some more shooting with it..
what kind of shooting could i expect at a 100 yards with it?
i was using 295 grain powerbelthollow point bullets with 3 pyrodex pellets, and a 209 primmer..
the gun was a traditions lightning..

Not sure about that gun, but I shoot 225 grain powerbelts with 100 grains of triple seven powder through my Remington 700 mls and I can get about 1" groups from 100 yards. So far it seems like I need to clean after every 2 shots though or else the 3rd and 4th shot start straying. I am planning on practicing alot more this summer though to figure this thing out.

I just put the crisco on my own nipples when i'm shooting prone, My body then recoils uniformly with the rifle. The ownly problem is when i try to keep sniffing my nipples my neck cramps up. lol
