stipped dpms lowers?

hey guys, im looking at picking up a dpms lower, no springs or trigger or anything just the frame of the lower(pardon my terms im new to black rifles still) the dealer wants 300 for it but im sure i could make a deal. are these things good quality? if i cant make a deal is 300 a good deal for a stripped lower? its brand new.

Considering a complete Stag lower with a fix stock goes for $129 more from Arms East, $300 for just a stripped lower is terrible deal. Average price for a forged lower is about $200.
 
We sell RRA and Spike's AR-15 stripped lowers for @ $199.99 or a bit more if they have colour fill options, etc..

We used to carry the DPMS stripped lowers but haven't offered them for about a year now... when we did they were also in the $199.99 range if I remember correctly.

Going price range (in Canada) for AR-15 stripped lowers is about $159 to $249 depending on brand name, features, etc..

Not all stripped lowers are the same... each brand makes to their own specifications and though they often use the term "mil-spec" all it means in the commercial market is that they are supposedly made to a common set of dimensions. The reality is that many use slightly different designs and different methods of production (the magwells for example), so they actually do look different sometimes when you compare one make to another side by side. Some have looser tolerances... this can result in lower costs of production and less waste from rejected out of spec runs, but it can also result in parts not fitting properly (too loose or too tight) or finishes not being up to accepted standards.

The DPMS stripped lower shouldn't be any higher priced than the RRA, Spikes, Stag, Bushmaster, Armalite, etc... $300.00 is too much in my opinion.

Aero Precesion makes lowers for other companies (I believe Spike's come from Aero Precesion)...very good quality and the price is hard to beat. Blueline is Canadian made and good quality as well. Bushmaster, Amalite, RRA, Spike's, Aero, DPMS are all comparable...and are all excellent options.
 
Aero Precision makes the lowers for several other "name brand" companies. They have made for spikes and armalite and others. Their are just as good as any other forged American lower.

If you do a google search you'll find they are generally held in high regard.

Back when the US market was going crazy and product shortages existed, Spike's did use Aero as a source for some of their lowers (to fill the void of supply at that time)... but that was short lived and hasn't been the case for quite awhile.

thanks guys lots of great info hear. now im trying to decide to go with a spikes from questar with the christmas discount or an aero from kodiak. decisions decisions. they will both mostly come out to about the same price after taxes and shipping i think. anybody care to swing me a deal lol?
 
The Aero lowers are excellent quality and value, search around on the net for reviews of them. Lots of top quality lowers out there for 150-250$
