Stippling at Blackbox

So I am sending a 19x off to blackbox for some custom work. I am getting them to stipple the frame and I am looking for some feedback. My question is - has anyone got them to do custom stippling work and if so was it 1) finepoint 2) shale or 3) fracture? What is your response to the change ? Is one better than the other or pros and cons to each?

I have shot a Glock 34 zev with finepoint/shale which I did enjoy. Just wondering if the fracture provides that much more grip- but does it sacrifice comfort?

I am not looking for grip tape options. The pattern is full on that option ghost rider. Again no grip tape options.

Just feel like I get a better purchase and I want it to act as an accelerator for support hand.

I do agree with your statement though.

i had them do a g20 in fracture.
turned out great.
definitely more textured for a no slip grip.
had the trigger guard undercut & mag release recessed as well.
it made a distinct improvement in how the large grip fit my hand.
 
I've owned one with their fine point stippling, one with their silica carbide texturing and put a few rounds through one with their new laser stippling. The fine point stippling is not bad initially, but it wears out eventually. I found my fine point stippled g17 was actually slicker than a stock g17 after a few years. Their silica carbide texturing is insane. It's like the gun is glued to your hand. But its a bit harsh. I had to take my ring off when shooting because it was stripping the finish off.

Their newer laser stippling is probably the best option. Much better grip than their fine point, but not as harsh as the silica carbide. I have a few more frames to send off to them and I plan to use that for all of them.
 
I had my P10F done in the fracture. Turned out awesome and gave the gun a way better feel. The more I shot it with the stock stippling the more I considered selling it. Now I love it.
 
You lost me on the last part…but seems like there is some resounding love for the fracture stipple job.

I've got a frame there now, and I'm going with the laser, that said, do you have a frame with the laser now? if so can you post a pic? Thanks

I was just talking about how the fracture stippling made me like the pistol and keep it as opposed to getting rid of it. Bottom line, Blackbox does awesome work with great customer service. I'll be sending my FNX45 to them as well and more than likely get the fracture pattern again.
 
Resurrecting this old thread because I'm trying to decide the same thing right now. What did you end up going with? I just got done watching a YouTube video and the YouTuber mentioned that the fine point type stippling does wear out over time, so I've crossed that off the list, and I can't do laser stippling either because I'm getting it cerakoted as well. Still even debating getting it stippled at all. I haven't even handled a gen 5 but I had to put talon grips on my gen 3 because the grip was way too slippery for me, I tend to have sweaty palms.
 
I just got another pistol back from them with the fine point. My hands sweat like crazy and I must say I prefer the fracture pattern over the point stippling. Of course everyone's preference is different.

I've never handled a stippled glock so I'm a little worried if I get it done and don't like it since its a permanent alteration.
