Stock 10-22 accuracy...

Really..............i gota couple boxes of each ill have to check....guess i always just assumed the velocitors were longer case as their higher powered like the stingers...

IMHO and in the opinion of many people, the most accurate semi out-of-the-box for the price is the Marlin 7000.....mine easily shoot 10 rounds in 1'' @ 50 with the CCI Green Tag and if I do my part, 3/4 to 1/2 @ 50 5 rounds.....I dont remember the price but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper than 10/22's.
I have to say that before the first brick, it was not that good (1-2 inch @ 50) but after many recomandations from ''rimfirecentral'' guys about break-in period, it's alot better......twice better!:dancingbanana:
7000 have no aftermarket parts like 10/22 have but if you dont expect to upgrade it, than I suggest you the 7000.
Good luck

I bought a 10/22 (the RR one with a 20" barrel), it is great fun to shoot and carry but I must admit I was a little let down by the accuracy. Wonder if I should have bought a decent bolt action?

What critical mods do you have to make to really improve the stock accuracy? The gun only cost $270 new, so it seems a little crazy to spend too much on it.

The critical mods would be: an new barrel and trigger assembly. If you don't want to spend alot of $$$ on a trigger assembly, a Volquartsen Target Hammer would immediately drop you stock trigger pull down to 2.75-2.5 LBS. This would increase accuracy.

The next thing is get a new barrel. Budget barrel - Butler Creek (Stay away from their carbon fiber barrels, their other barrels are good though) or Green Mountain.

High end barrels for ultimate accuracy - Volquartsen or Lilja.

Need help with any of these give me a haller. I have a few bits that can help and I can give you the names of places where you can get barrels, stocks..etc.
