Stock 10/22

I'm thinking abought getting a 10/22 LR and I was wondering what kind of group's it shoot's at 50 meter's? What it work's like ect because it will have to be stock for a year or so except for a scope and 25 round mag of course.

My 10/22 has custom parts, but still has the standard barrel. My girlfriend who can barely hit the broad side of a barn managed to get about 6 inch groups.

They shoot not bad but you need to do a trigger job to get anywhere near the accuracy they are capable of. If you have any tinkering skills at all or have a friend that does you can get an amazing trigger using just your stock parts. I just finished my first complete home brew trigger job and I am sooooo impressed!!!!! You also need some good optics on it to shoot great groups don't forget.

Ballpark figure might be around 1.5"-2" stock - out of the box.

I have pretty good tinkering skills. I was thinking abought a Tasco 2.5-10x 42mm objective scope SIR has them for 87.99 what do you think of that ? It will be for varmit/plinking with some range time. I just joined the local gun club and I need a good high use .22

I have never been around one because no one around here has one I think it's the only place As for moding it money is the main reason.

With a 3-9x32 scope, right out of the box, my 10/22RR easily shot 1-1.5" groups with the cheapest piece of crap ammo I could feed it. Of course with the cheapo ammo there was the tendency for the occassional flier...but on the whole, an honest 1-1.5" on the bench.

75 to 100 yards is where I find I can really see the difference between my stock barreled 10/22 and some of the more accurate bolt guns or guns with match barrels and good ammo.

My philosophy is also not to be too shy about getting a powerful scope on a .22LR, because it's sure hard to see those little holes on the paper after 50 yards.
