Hey Gang, I have a barreled action coming and will need a stock. I see the Hogue overmolded and it’s affordable and looks decent, I see the Bell and Carlson and while more expensive it looks great and has good reviews. I see Magpul and some others similar but to be honest I am a Fudd and prefer traditional stocks.
What else may be out there that would be practical and 500$ or less.
Thanks folks for any assistance.

Just building one up myself this year and I picked up an MDT Fieldstock, but that might be a bit closer to the Magpul than the Hogue.

Check out the Dlask 10/22 Walnut stock, I have never used but they are blowing them out as they are closing down and guys on here seem to like them.

(edit: posted at same time as fella above :))

Thanks guys, the Dlask is nice and quite Fudd like but like the Hogue it has no comb for helping with scope alignment. I will shoulder the Magpul when at Epps next week and will see how it feels but so far I am leaning to the Bell and Carlson, I have one on my Model 70 and it is a decent stock.

I have an original wood stock. If that interests you, I'm near SFRC... send me a pm.

I have a 10/22 that came mounted to an anschutz style Bell and Carlson stock, I never would have really looked at that style of stock on its own but have to say I was quite surprised by how comfortable it is.

That Dlask walnut stock looks like a nice stock, especially for $90

Fudd 10/22 wood stocks can be had almost for free. Just check the EE here and on GP or put up a want ad.
Not necessarily looking for wood but more the traditional stock shape and dimensions as I’m not exactly a fan of a chassis style but admittedly I have no experience with them.

Primarily will be a hunting and informal target rifle. Was gonna go with the complete rifle but will try this route instead.

Nice choice! I have a Volquartsen SF-1 in WMR. Super solid and insanely accurate.

These things are built like tanks! They are solid stainless steel including the receiver. Just so you're aware.... they are very heavy! Wouldn't make the greatest hunting rifle if you put a heavy stock on it aswell. Go with something lightweight if you can.

Weight is definitely a consideration and perhaps I need to let go of the Fudd inside 🙄. What stock is yours in?

Who carries those in Canada?
Grey Birch moved to the States... The last time I talked to them they were supposed to be setting up a distributor in Canada this year. Not sure if that's happened yet. I would contact them and find out.

I ordered mine from the US... waited for a sale to save a bit but still cost around $700 if I recall correctly.

You can sometimes find used ones out there. Check GP, the EE etc.

Ty True Shadows, what model is your chassis? I was just on their website. They do look good and pretty light even to this Fudd .
