Stock for a Savage 110?

I can't find one anywhere in Canada. I have a Savage 110L , 308win, but now rebarreled to a 22-250rem, it's a lefthanded rifle with about 4 cracks in the stock, don't care if it's wood or plastic, can't find one anywhere, the rifle
is old serial number is 22###

Cracks can be repaired with a good quality 2-part epoxy like Acra-Glas. A refinish on the stock and you're back in the game.

one crack starts at the action screw in front of the mag and goes almost half way up stock 8 to 9 inches long other crack is at the tang, don't really care to fix it rather have a new one, or a good used one

I believe ANY long action Savage left hand stocks will fit considering its older. Should be 5.062" between action screws, is there a letter starting the serial #, such as F22###x? Savage made an internediate length action aka as the "J" series, screw spacing is 4.522"

Naw, it's an early 110 before the A series rifles started.

It might be a medium action rifle.
I sold one on CGN about a year ago, also a left hand 308, a long action 110 stock won't fit this one. Better measure between the screws before you buy one.

there are 3 screws, one in front of the trigger to the action screw near the barrel is app. 4.531" I must have a "J" series action.

I don't think J series has anything to do with action length. I have a 7 Mag in a J series and it's just over 5" between the front screws....and the 7Mag is clearly a long action. I think you have a Medium length action which is shorter than a long but longer than a current short action. Might be tough to find a stock for it.

The J series was the first short action and is spaced at 4.522" CTC, that is the determining difference. Rembo, if yours is 5" then you do not have a J series.

Was wondering if you were going to read this one MadDog, you also know why I asked about the "F"

there are no letters in the serial number, my original barrel didn't look like that, where the rear sight was a bulge on the barrel and the sight was mounted in the center of it

A "Series J" could also be an early long action as well, although the short actions were more common. The "Series" refers to a slight design change.I believe there was also "E" and "A" series as well.

Here is what I found, just when I thought I knew something. Worst of it is, its a posted sticky. Apparently I skipped over it 'cause I already knew what a J series was.

First Generation Short Actions:

The 1st Generation short actions are often incorrectly referred to as "Series J" actions. These actions will have a three digit model number (110, 112, etc), but are approximately 0.540" shorter than the standard long action.

Savage used series letters (i.e. Series J) solely to identify small changes to individual parts over the years. These series indications were only used to identify what parts to use on the rifle should it ever come back to the factory for repair or warranty service.

As such, it's common to find a long action marked as being a "Series J", and as such it's not a good idea to simply refer to the 1st Generation short actions as "J-Series" as the series has no bearing on the actual action length. Additionally, an action can be marked with a series letter other than "J" and still be one of these 1st Gen short actions.

You can ask here in the EE, just make sure you say 4.52" ctc action screw spacing.

I think there is a couple of aftermarket stock makers that offer "J series" length actions. You would have to contact them to verify the 4.52" spacing Give me a few minutes to look for them.

Sorry to hear that. The good news is if you are handy at all, you can make the short action stock fit. If you can pillar bed, you can fit a short action stock to your rifle. The front action screw, lug surface and barrel nut relief is further forwards, the rest is the same. I would recommend removing the existing pillar, filling the hole with epoxy, redrill the new hole then epoxy the pillar back in. I would use a piece of steel to fill the gap to the lug and action bed the stock. The new center feed action stocks will also work with only a tiny bit more work to remove ridges in mag well and some off the back of the lug boss.
