I purchased an Norinco M14 from TradeEx recently, Great rifle, not swamped in grease, just this oil. I did not need to (god forbid anyone doing this) put it in the dish washer? Just a good old fashioned wipe down. The stock is plastic, looks good, very sound, action fits tight. Cold be bedded but will do that with a Boyds stock. The front site c/w bayonet is not welded and fits tight (although the groove machining is less than perfect, a bit fugly). The flash hider is bored out to the same dia as an M1A rifle. it's not closed like a USGI flash suppressor.
Chamber appears to be chrome plated, but is not chrome plated at the muzzle. Gas system is in perfect alignment, no need for shimming. The piston is chrome plated but not on the arm. I am not sure is unitizing the gas system will accomplish anything, they do not move, they gas system is tight. The gas system locking ring stops easy movement at the 5 o'clock position and needs to be lightly tapped to close on 6 o'clock. The actions has a slight ping when let off to close as does the hammer when fired with snap caps.
Upgrades, Well I bought a BM59 rear sight, Don't know why, this rifle has a good rear sight worked as it should. My bad. I have a rod guide coming as well as a NM suppressor / front sight. all I need to do is sight it in.
Overall I'm happy, nice to have another in my hands since my TRW M-14 was traded for my C1A1.
