After assembling 3 rifles in mdt lss chassis set ups im looking for something a little different.
I dont have a set style in mind i just dont want a traditional synthetic stock
As for actions i havent decided yet. Itll be a short action for sure. Either a 378 or 473 bolt face in a coyote capable cartridge.
Im looking to try something new to me in that search for perfection. Im willing to look at any sugestions.
Wont be carried far from my truck. Less than a km so weight isnt an issue. Either is recoil as itll be chambered for a small fast cartridge between 17 and 25

So whats everyone using?

If You don’t want synthetic or a chassis. That only leaves wood so are you asking what factory options are available?
The Remington 700 VLS comes to mind. Laminated so relatively weather resistant, short action, heavy barrel, not really sure what you want

A nice figured, oil finished, glass bedded walnut stock is hard to beat. The Kimber classic select immeadiately comes to mind.

Im not against synthetic or cf. I just dont want a standard factory plastic stock. I want an after market stock. Dont care what its made of

I love wood and have plans for a couple wooden stocked rifles in the future. Im looking basically for an inbetween traditional wood and a full out chassis system.
I like the look of some of the manners offerings. Just curious as to what everyone is using and what they have to say about what they like and dont like

Mcmillan , Boyde, KRG bravo, Bell and carlson the list goes on. Figure out what action your getting then google stocks for that action. Lots of nice wood and composite options out there

I've been buying Bell & Carlson stocks for a few of my rifles over the past year or so. A few Tikka T3x' and my newest is for a Remington Model 7 in 260 Remington. They're tough, rigid, a little clubby feeling and heavier than a lot of the other aftermarket options. They have their upsides and their downsides. Price is a factor for me and these things come in at about half the cost of a McMillan or Wilcat. I haven't had one yet that wasn't a good drop in fit. I guess it all comes down to what you want in a rifle. My next project is likely going to be an ultralight type build on a T3x action in 7x57. And for that, I think a Wildcat will be in the cards. But for now, with the rifles that I've got, the B&C stocks work fine and look sharp.

As other have mentioned, the B&C Medalist is a vg good option if weight is not a big issue. I recently got this one in 6CM and think it was the perfect stock choice for a heavier sporter.

One could always cut a couple inches off the bbl, mount a smaller scope in lighter mounts and lose the cheek thingy if they want it lighter. 9lb as shown.
