I am looking at buying a McMillan Edge benchrest stock and it was suggested to not use their 1/2" pillars and install a 5/8" pillar in the front and 9/16" in the rear.
The biggest advantage would made by the guy doing the work...
Seriously - save the extra expense and buy it as installed from McMillan. I can not visualize any strength or accuracy advantage using larger pillars in that stock.
