Hey everyone, looking for some stock recommendations for a 10/22 build with an 8" barrel.

From what I can find online this barrel will be too short for both my "stock" ruger synthetic stock and my SBI G3 chassis.

I know that MWI makes a chassis and hand guard for 8 inch barrels but I'm not personally a huge fan of how they look. Just wondered if there were any other options out there.

I also see that a lot of people have simply cut their stock down to be short enough for an 8" barrel. I will probably try cutting down my synthetic stock and adding a grip or bottom rail either way just to see give it a try. If anyone has recommendations or experience shortening a synthetic 10/22 stock I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for taking the time to read, here's a photo of my current 10/22 build

The two challenges on an 8" barrel 10/22 are finding a short enough forestock, and a long enough buttstock to keep the overall length legal. That tends to give you an excessive length of pull, so hopefully you've got long arms.

The SBI superlight chassis might help, as it's got a very short front end and adds a few inches behind the receiver before the pic interface for the rear stock.

Interested to hear if switching from the 12.5 barrel to the 8 inch effects accuracy any. I'm looking to bulid a short barreled one as well and torn on which size to buy.

I am building an SBR using a Midwest Industries chassis and am looking for an 8" barrel in Canada.

Dlask is out of stock and does not appear to be restocking, and I cannot find any other local retailers carrying short barrels. #####h Armory has options, but the lead time is several months.

Faxon's 8.5" barrel is also out of stock.

As for OAL, MI 8" chassis + MDT Buffer Tube + Stock should be over 26".
