So I've come across a powder supplier that will deal with me.
I'm wondering if I should start stocking some popular types of powder?
I would appreciate some input on the types and quantities.
Also how much is it costing lately?
Any input is appreciated.
Regards, Henry

Look into the cost of the licence and how much you can have in stock without requiring a powder magazine.
The powders you carry will depend on what powders your distributor carries.

Henry, do you have a list of the powder your supplier has? Looks like most of the other folks are about $32/lb for the more common IMR / Hodgdon products.

If you start stocking all the components it will be such a shame to not stand in line at WSS for 40 minutes to be told they don't have any of my items in stock anymore!

Last time I bought Hodgdon Universal Clays on April 10th this year, I paid 169.95+ taxes for 8lb jug. Somewhat locally - Chilliwack.
It'd make sense to stock powders that sell, and the ones that would sell are those used most often and in quantities, like by pistol shooting competitors (who reload due to going thru lots of ammo), rifle shooters who go thru a lot of ammo, some hunters.

It'd be safe to say we are seing lack of primers lately, powder is more or less available.

Propellant Magazine Licence (Type P)
This licence is required for the storage of propellant powder, primers and small arms ammunition if:

  • the quantity of powder stored for personal use exceeds 75 kilograms;
  • the quantity of powder stored for sale exceeds 12 kilograms net explosives weight or 10 000 primers;
  • the storage of ammunition exceeds 225 kilograms net explosives quantity.
The fee for this type of licence is $90

They will not give this license to your home you must have a building located in the proper zoning to get the license... try finding somone now a day rent you a builing that your going to store gunpowder in... :runaway::runaway: With a license comes inspections :)

By the time your done paying hazardous shipping fees... etc. I feel the market isnt big enough for the hassel the fact that you can only really keep 12kgs isn't going to leave much room for profit... couple bucks per can is it really worth it? What happens if you buy the wrong 12kgs of powder and are stuck with it for a while?

Universal Clays here, 2x 8lb jugs later with loading 9mm - still like it :) It's shotgun/pistol powder that is in many ways like Unique.
Varget is very popular in loading for rifles.

Be nice if some one could stock the Accurate Arms powders, they seem tough to find, same with Vitavouri. FS

I agree, I am always searching for AA9 and there are a few VV powders I am looking to experiment with. I don't think I have ever seen VV powder in any of the shops I have been to. Though I don't always ask.
