So my m14s will eventually be on its way and in the meantime I'm stocking up on odds and ends. This rifle will be a range queen of sorts and I'm curious as to what of the following is a "must get" and why.

recoil buffer
stainless op rod
gas shims

welcome to the addiction

Recoil buffer - unnecessary
Stainless op rod - unnecessary - large diameter match normal steel IS necessary - smoother - no spring kink.
Gas shims - very necessary all norcs are loose and require shims sooner or later.
A unitized gas system is also a good idea. And a g.i. fiberglass stock. Norc chu wood {banana stocks} suck.
check out the main battle rifle forum - all info is there :)

Buy a 2nd Norc M14 for spare parts since the Kommunists ain't making more M14's. Once they are gone, they are gone forever (unless you are ready to pay $ 2000ish for an M1A).

If you want a super accurate semi-auto.... buy an AR15 :D If you want a tight shooter (grouper) , then buy an M700 Varmint or Police, Savage FP10, Winchester Stealth, or Remmy Sendero

If you want a good deal on a .308 semi-auto , battle proven platform, and a great tweaking rifle that no .223 mouse gun can match in terms of bear or zombie protection, then the M14 boomstick is for you.

Say, we have not had too many (recent ) bear-defense threads, but frankly, the cut down (Chopmod or SOPmod'ed) M14's are unbeatable in the bush, truck guns , or motorcycle scabbard guns (can you say: MadMax Scenario?) :D

Peace be to journey,
Barney

So you don't see Marstar supporting these with spare parts?

Dunno about the current inventory, gotta speak to Johnone at Marstar.ca and see what is on hand. I do know that they (Kommunist Xhinese) will not be cranking out any more M14's, complete or parts so that's the end of any production runs. Likely make more money turning out paintball markers since it is a larger market and politically correct in today's climate of hoplophobia (fear of weapons).

Peace out,
Barney
