Hey, does anybody know if the Rem 700VS came with different style synthetic stocks over the past few years or have they all been the same. (black with some sort of fiber texture).
Anybody know who made this stock....is it HS or McMillian, ??

I'm in the market for this gun but in every pic I get from different shops, the stock seems to be a little different?

I have only heard of two companies producing the stocks for the 700 VS series. It was Bell and Carlson and HS Precision. It was a toss up between the two if you ordered one - you might have gotten one or the other. It was very difficult to tell the difference between the two as they both had aluminum bedding blocks.

Ahhhh, Bell and Carlson on a Remington? I always thought H-S Precision made the Remington Varmint Synthetic stocks. I sent the company the codes from the barrel channel on my VSSF, and they responded with the dates and particulars.

Their reply letter says the green ink date is Jun 12 98, the large number 8 is the identifier of the laminator that made the stock, and the molded-in code is the year and month. Therefore, my stock was made in May 98 and finished in June. Nice to know QC/QA codes are a way to precisely identify what might otherwise be an anonymous part.

B&C make stocks for a number of the rifles of the 700 line. The best example is the Light Varmint Stainless Fluted (I have two of them) and they both came in B&C stocks.

VS's and Senderos were made with HS and more recently B&C stocks..IMHO the HS is a slightly better stock being finished a bit better on the outside.
B&C makes the stocks for the Ti and the LVSF also.
